When did this turn into the 'Argue about characters' thread?

For one it makes it really hard for me and the other Sumo-ites to find any relevant questions.

Second, I did specifically request that we keep character requests/arguments to other threads, as no matter what you say, it's not going to influence who is and isn't in the game. In fact if anything - it makes me want to cut stuff... Why I oughta...!

Anyway - what I did pop in to do was to clear up a couple of things...!

First Big the Cat was my favourite character in SSR - he's not necessarily my favourite SEGA/Sonic character of all time. Don't bother asking me which one is, as it's spins and flips all the time. Sometimes it's the Space Harrier guy, sometimes the OutRun2 512BB - I'm a fickle guy...!

Second, when it comes to the Meccano toys, just as they're based on the All-Star franchise doesn't mean they're based on what's going into Transformed. For a start it's the ASR Sonic car, and I'm pretty sure we're not planning a Green Hill track at the moment.

Third - E3 isn't far away is it? We've just sorted SEGA out a load of new screenshots, so you should be seeing some of the existing characters - and maybe one or two of the others out before too long. Of course, that's before you see the new...

Damn it, S0L, now I'm all excited . No Green Hill makes me very, very happy. A few new characters soon? And a new track. These were to be expected for E3, but it's great to have confirmation.

EDIT: If SEGA really wanted a Sonic 4 level to make the cut though, I would hope for Sky Fortress. Not only would it be suitable for both land and flight-based racing, it would also reference two Sonic games at the same time. This part of my post really belongs in the track thread...

Cause with a new engine, those gorgeous visuals and all the stuff going on with the tracks and cars it must have been in the making for quite some time. How long did ASR1 take by comparison?

Good question. ASR took about 2 years, this is taking longer - but it's a much more complicated game. We actually kicked it off about September 2010, I'll let you do the maths

We bandied around a lot of ideas between the end of ASR and us kicking off SART, oddly enough I've not long since written a Dev Diary about the games beginnings and what some of those other ideas are, which should be live in the not too distant future. When it hits I'll pop a link in here to it (though I'm sure the TSS news crew will beat me to it!).

Hey SOL, Im a huge fan of yours! Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing was a very good game and I really liked it!

I have some questions for you!

1) In my opinion, Mario Kart 64 was the best Mario Kart ever created because it was really fun to play in grand-prix mode with my friends.So, I would like to know if Transformed will have this stuff.

2) The itens in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing was not......hmm....creative, we can expect better itens? I know you guys rock and I would like to see more improvement in this part!

3) Mario Kart is a popular game because its very simple and easy to play, in the other words, its for everyone. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing had good controls and a small learning curve that provided fun for all. In Transformed, you guys are making others stuff like flight and boat, these new mechanics will make the game more difficult? Im afraid that would limit public.

4) I will see more brazil stuff in Samba de Amigo tracks? It was fun to hear some music in portuguese! I would like to hear more samba! Rio in Real would be a cool addition! (
