3DS Stages

So we know the console version stage list is being selected from three stages each from Classic/Adventure/Modern categories but I'm interested as to whether or not the 3DS version will have a similar formula but for handheld eras (beyond the Classic stages).

I imagine the 3DS stage list will look something like this:

Green Hill Zone

Casino Night Zone

Mushroom Hill Zone

Sonic Advance Stage

Sonic Advance 2 Stage

Sonic Advance 3 Stage

Sonic Rush Stage

Sonic Rush Adventure Stage

Sonic Colours DS Stage

As much as I'd love to see the Rivals games have some representation I can't see it happening, especially with them not being released in Japan. What do you guys think?

Assuming the whole "3DS version only has seven levels" thing is true, then I imagine the breakdown will be more along the lines of:

Classic

Sonic 1 - Green Hill Zone

Sonic 2 - Casino Night Zone

Sonic 3&K - Mushroom Hill Zone

Modern

Sonic Advance 1/2/3 stage

Sonic Rush/Adventure stage

Sonic Colours DS stage

And then maybe a Final Zone, or another Classic/Modern stage? I dunno. I'd much prefer it to be nine stages and fit more into the breakdown that you've detailed, but if it's seven stages then... well, we'll just have to wait and see I guess. Music Plant has got to make it in for Sonic Advance though, please please please.

It's been confirmed that there will be only 7 stages.

It doesn't matter if the Rivals games weren't in Japan, since Japan doesn't care about Sonic, and Iizuka was very aware and involed with the games when he was in America where they were made.

7 stages, no Gamegear or PSP games. That's all been confirmed. My guess is we'll either see a list that pulls from Sonics 1, 2, 3/Knuckles, Adventures 1 and 2, or both Rush games, or replace the Adventure games with Advance 2 and 3 (given how the first one has a lot of stages that are just remakes from the original trilogy).

Here's 2 possible lists:

-Green Hill

-Casino Night

-Mushroom Hill

-Red Mountain

-Metal Harbor

-Water Palace

-Sky Babylon

or

-Green Hill

-Casino Night

-Mushroom Hill

-Music Plant/Hot Crater

-Route 99

-Water Palace

-Sky Babylon

Just my guess, anyhow. We'll see what they go with though :P

No Sonic 3(stand alone) levels, no buy.

Or is SEGA afraid to be sued buy The King Of Pop?..i mean..he's dead..? :S

I expect 2 advance stages and 2 rush stages, with boss battles to give representation to games that didn't make it in

Sonic 1: Green Hill - Metal Sonic (Sonic CD)

Sonic 2: Casino Night - Fang (Sonic Triple Trouble/the Fighters)

Sonic & Knuckles: Mushroom Hill - Big Arms (Sonic 3)

Sonic Advance 2: Music Plant - X zone (Sonic Advance)

Sonic Advance 3: Chaos Angel - Emerl (Sonic Battle)

Sonic Rush: Huge Crisis - Imperator Ix (Sonic Chronicles)

Sonic Rush Adventure: Pirate's Island - Egg Destroyer (Sonic Rivals)

or something like that

/setting myself up for disappointment

That's what people said about Sonic CD, but then we learned Stardust Speedway was a boss battle.

Does that not apply to Big Arm in Launch Base Zone for you?

I have to admit though, the lack of any proper Sonic 3 representation is a bit disconcerting, but I'll be fine. We have Sky Sanctuary, and now Mushroom Hill! I love those.

Why do I get the feeling that we'll see Neo-green Hill, Leaf Forest, and Route 99 for the advance stages?

I was wondering how the number of stages would work. Classic's get 3, while modern get's 4 is what I originally thought. But I forgot to factor in the "final stage", which I half expect to be the double Super Sonic boss fight.

Whoops! Completely overlooked the 3DS only having 7 stages, I suppose 2 Advance and 2 Rush era stages would be the logical choice then but now I have no idea...

4 stages is not really a celebration of Sonic's handheld outings...

Well al the classic stages are confirmed so my picks for everything else:

Music Plant (Sonic Advance 2)

Toy Kingdom (sonic advance 3)

Water palace (Sonic Rush)

Sky Babylon (rush adventure)

Sucks we're only getting 7 stages. I really wanted sunset park and egg rocket to make the cut as well.

Music Plant and Toy Kingdom? That's overkill when we've already got Casino Night.

Why not. Overload of city-stages in console-version. Overload of "party"-stages in handheld version.

Toy Kingdom? Music Plant? More like

Green Hill Zone

Casino Night Zone

Mushroom Hill Zone

Neo Green Hill

Route 99

Whale Point

Game Land

I am joking of course. Trying to find similar tropes because that's what Gens HD did, trololol.

I honestly agree with you, except I'd like Huge Crisis.

Heh, All I want is Chaos Angel or Sky Babylon, and I'm completley satisfied.

Course I wouldn't be surprised if they did kept doing the first stage of every game.

Green Hill

Casino Night

Mushroom Hill

Music Plant

Chaos Angel

Altitude Limit

Coral Cave/Haunted Ship

Also, I'd be happy to drop one of the Rushes for Aquarium Park.

And because S3K is being treated as a single titles, Mushroom Hill is the 7th. But yeah, it's basically a first level. I don't want to see any more of those, please. We already have three on console and two on 3DS. Edited by Blue Blood

You didn't know? The Sonic fanbase over there is on par with the Yakuza fanbase over here. There aren't many.

I'm expecting:

Sonic 1 stage (Green Hill)

Sonic 2 stage (Casino Night)

Sonic 3&K stage (Mushroom Hill)

Sonic Advance stage

Sonic Rivals stage

Sonic Rush stage

Sonic Colors stage

Seeing a Rivals was never released in Japan, and for a modern game is rather obscure, I'll bet there aren't any levels from it.
