Achievements System

Overview

We have designed the Achievements System so that almost everything you do on the Sonic Stadium can have a positive impact and reward. On this page, we explain the three basic pillars of the Achievements System that you need to understand:

• Points, the numerical score for actions performed and content created within the Community;
• Badges, a visual reward for accomplishing milestones;
• Ranks, the measure of how far you've come in the Sonic Community!

To level up in Rank, you must collect Points. Points can be earned discretely during your time posting content within the Sonic Community, or earned as an additional bonus to any Badges you may be awarded.

Where to find your Achievements

You can find your Achievements progress in a number of locations; primarily on your Sonic Community Profile page, there will be a section that gives you a general outline of the recent Badges you've earned and your current Rank:

Click any of the 'Recent Badges' and you'll be taken to your Achievements page, which gives you a full overview of the Badges you've collected and your journey throughout the Ranks:

Please Note: The 'Reputation' score of a user on the Sonic Stadium does not impact the Points, Badges or Ranks earned through the Achievements System in any way. It is a completely different feedback system.

Points

At the core of the Sonic Stadium Achievements system is the Points mechanism. Points are discretely awarded to members of the Sonic Community whenever they create certain content or help contribute to the site at large. Some Badges (explained later) will also come with a Points reward, although not all Badges will do so.

Only by collecting Points can you work to increase your Sonic Community Rank (explained later). You won't be notified if you perform an action that will earn your account Points (you will be notified of any Badges you earn however), as it is intended to be a 'silent incentive' system.

Below is a list of examples of actions that can earn you Points. Please note that this is not a complete list; other actions may also reward your account with Points as well. 

• Logging into the Sonic Stadium: 3 Points a Day
• Creating a Topic in the Forums: 10 Points
• Posting a Reply to a Topic in the Forums: 5 Points
• Posting an Event to the Community Calendar: 7 Points
• Following a Content Item (News story, Topic, Event, etc): 2 Points
• Following another Sonic Community Member: 2 Points
• Your Content is Promoted: 10 Points
• Reacting to Another User's Content: 2 Points to both you and the recipient

There are no rewards for posting Status Updates - that feature exists simply to let you have some impulsive fun!

Badges

A Badge is a visual reward for reaching a major milestone, or accomplishing a significant task, within the Sonic Community. Badges work in tandem with Points, in that some Badges may come with a Points reward, but Badges by themselves do not count towards progress towards your Rank.

Think of them more like the rewards you'd find on your gaming console; a cool little trinket to show off to all your friends! There are many kinds of Badges that you can collect during your time in the Sonic Community - these are outlined below.

Manually-Awarded Badges

You can be manually awarded a badge from The Sonic Stadium staff and/or moderation team. These badges usually come in a square format, and can be awarded multiple times (unless it is a Limited Edition or Event badge). The following badges focus mainly on a user's content and how much it contributes to the Sonic Stadium Community. In most cases, these badges will be assigned against a specific post or topic. In this case, a link to the award-winning content will be visible next to the relevant badge on your profile page's Achievements section for reference.

Manually-awarded badges may or may not also come with a Points reward. This will be at the discretion of the Sonic Stadium staff or moderation member that issues the badge at the time of reward. The general rule is, the more interesting a piece of content is (or the more effort that's gone into it), the more points we'll tend to reward.

Great Content:
Awarded for posting great material in the forums.

Sonic News Tipster:
Awarded for topics that help break Sonic News.

Helping Hand:
Awarded for posts that help out another user or project.

Great Community Support:
Awarded for posts that helps the community at large. This could be in the form of launching new events or projects to grow the community, or by keeping the peace through civil conversation (not backseat modding).

Superstar:
Awarded for posts that go above and beyond, and can apply to a post that encompasses a number of the above badge parameters at once. This is a special and rare badge, only considered for users who consistently post incredibly high quality content.

Achievement Badges

As you post content and contribute to the Sonic Community, you'll automatically earn special Badges when you hit certain milestones. These Badges come in a circular shape and can only be earned once per achievement - however, many of these achievements have 'stackable' Badges, meaning that you may get a more special, rarer version of the same badge by continuing to contribute to the Community.

As with Manually-Awarded Badges, some of these may or may not come with Point Rewards.

Made your first post on the Sonic Forums.

Conversation Starter:
Made your first topic on the Sonic Forums.

Chatty:
Made your 10th post on the Sonic Forums.

Chatterbox:
Made your 100th post on the Sonic Forums.

Chataholic:
Made your 500th post on the Sonic Forums.

Chatting Machine:
Made your 1,000th post on the Sonic Forums.

Hearin' It:
You were the recipient (victim?) of someone's 1,000th post.

Follower:
You followed 10 pieces of content across the Sonic Community.

Obsessed:
You followed 50 pieces of content across the Sonic Community.

Well Followed:
Your account is being followed by 10 Sonic Community members.

Idolised:
Your account is being followed by 50 Sonic Community members.

Good Company:
You received 10 Positive Reactions to your content from other Sonic Community members.

Celebrity:
You received 100 Positive Reactions to your content from other Sonic Community members.

Tough Crowd:
You received a Negative Reaction to your content from other Sonic Community members.
(currently inactive)

Reacting Well:
You gave 5 Reactions to other Sonic Community members' content.

Loud Reactor:
You gave 50 Reactions to other Sonic Community members' content.

React-Fu:
You gave 100 Reactions to other Sonic Community members' content.

Reaction Wizard:
You gave 500 Reactions to other Sonic Community members' content.

First Event:
You posted your first Event to the Community Calendar.

Event Planner:
You posted 10 Events to the Community Calendar.

Full Schedule:
You posted 50 Events to the Community Calendar.

Promotion!:
Your content was selected by Sonic Stadium staff to feature in the Community 'Our Picks' section.

ABP - Always Be Promoting:
Your content was featured in the Community 'Our Picks' section 10 times.

Daily Sonic:
You visited the Sonic Community (any area of the Sonic Stadium website) every day for a week. You must be logged into your Sonic Stadium account each time for return visits to be tracked.

Sonic Punch Card:
You visited the Sonic Community (any area of the Sonic Stadium website) every day for 30 days. You must be logged into your Sonic Stadium account each time for return visits to be tracked.

Week One Done:
You have been a member of the Sonic Community for 7 days. This Achievement will unlock when you next visit the Sonic Stadium and log into your account.

One Month Later:
You have been a member of the Sonic Community for 30 days. This Achievement will unlock when you next visit the Sonic Stadium and log into your account.

One Year In:
You have been a member of the Sonic Community for 1 year. This Achievement will unlock when you next visit the Sonic Stadium and log into your account.

Five Fast Years:
You have been a member of the Sonic Community for 5 years. This Achievement will unlock when you next visit the Sonic Stadium and log into your account.

A Decade Dedicated:
You have been a member of the Sonic Community for 10 years. This Achievement will unlock when you next visit the Sonic Stadium and log into your account.

Limited Edition and Event Badges

In addition to the standard Achievement Badges listed above, Sonic Stadium Community members can also earn special Limited Edition Badges for participating in various community events or accomplishing tasks in a certain period of time. These Badges are manually added to users' accounts at the end of the event. You can see a full list of these Badges on the following page.

SSMB Classic Awards

Before the introduction of the current Achievements system in 2022, the Sonic Stadium forums (SSMB) used an 'Awards' system that gave out special badges to users for accomplishing certain tasks or contributing to community projects. All of these badges were awarded manually and relate to events that took place during 2009 - 2017. While this system is no longer in use, legacy awards from past years have been imported and added to the accounts of users who previously earned them.

Ranks

Ranks are the ultimate expression of how big a Sonic the Hedgehog fan you really are! The more Points you earn through visiting, discussing, collaborating and creating content in the Sonic Community, the further the progress made towards your next Rank.

Every new user to the Sonic Community starts off on the Rank of Cheese the Chao. As you become more of a Sonic fan, you'll climb up the Ranks and meet a whole host of Sonic the Hedgehog characters along the way.

A list of the Ranks currently available can be seen below - we are not revealing the Points scores required to unlock each tier, but you can always check how many Points you need to reach the next one by checking your User Menu!
