It's been a busy day for Sonic Forces Mobile announcements, as new character teases for Tech Knight Silver and Mummy Knuckles have arrived alongside a rumoured arrival of much-loved IDW character Surge the Tenrec. And, there are even new update patches to talk about as well!
First, the following image of Surge the Tenrec has been floating around social media over the last day by a number of channels - but the real source appears to be Reddit. Apparently the image of Surge, a character that has yet to be officially announced for Sonic Forces, is the result of a datamined leak. We'll await an official reveal before we let ourselves get too excited about running around as Surge, though.
While the Surge graphic appears to be the result of a leak, it's a different story with Tech Knight Silver as he has already been officially teased by SEGA HARDlight with the below graphic shared some time ago with the phrase, "Valor is timeless."
However, a clean version of the Tech Knight Silver render has been spotted in the wild as well, with an image associated with Twitter user 'King Midnight' appearing on Google Search Results at time of writing, but now appears to have been deleted. The below image comes from them.
In other news, SEGA HARDlight also officially teased a Mummy Knuckles for the Halloween season, which you can see below. No word as of yet when this character will hit the Sonic Forces track, but we imagine it will be sometime soon as the studio is also gearing up for a Halloween event (more details below).
It's really to see so much creativity go into these variations - particularly with the Knight characters, as we imagine there isn't a lot of room for alternate skins while characters are already donning a whole bunch of armour.
While we're here, we wanted to also help SEGA HARDlight spread the word about upcoming spot-changes to the Sonic Forces Mobile game, which are intended to help with balancing and add various quality-of-life improvements.
First, a new Halloween event called 'Graveyard Smash' will run from 24 - 31 October, where players can collect special cards for Reaper Metal Sonic and Sonic the Werehog. Second, a new 'Brawl Mode' will be active from 24 October to 7 November, which is a new team-based activity where players gain points by holding on to a Brawl token and carrying it over the finish line.
Finally, here are the official notes for the next update, which will be effective as of version 4.22.0:
Balance changes
- Reduced damage on 'Sharp Shelter' for Boscage Maze Sonic,
- Reduced radius on 'Brutal Barrier' to one lane for Linebacker Omega,
- Removed invincibility from 'Twin Tail Boost' for Movie Tails.
Gameplay changes
- Added a ray-beam effect on spawn of 'Cyclone Charge' for Longclaw,
- Metal Sonic can no longer steal 'Steal'.
