  • Sonic Forces and Dash Introduces Series Knuckles, Drummer Cream, Metal 3.0 And More! (IMPORTANT UPDATE)

    Shift, ROCK, Dash!

As the days draw closer to the release of the Knuckles show, more and more Sonic games are getting in on the cross promotion frenzy. Last weekend, Sonic Speed Simulator got first dibs in introducing Movie Knuckles and the gang into their game. Now it's SEGA Hardlight's turn!

The Sonic mobile game devs tweeted out a tease showing off three new characters arriving to not just Sonic Forces Mobile, but Sonic Dash too! Meet Series Knuckles, Drummer Cream and the long overdue Metal Sonic 3.0!

    image(76).thumb.png.35dab33b8f8f46c0b1c22f5fae4d9daf.png

This isn't the first time Movieverse Knuckles arrived in Forces or Dash, but this is SERIES Knuckles, sporting his famous treasure hunting cap!

But let's not rule out Metal 3.0, who has been making quite the resurgence lately in his appearances! He is not only in Sonic Speed Simulator, but he also got his own merch in the Jakks Pacific product line! Now he makes the jump to not one, but two mobile games! Not bad for a recolor that only appeared in Sonic Rivals 2, no?

Hardlight also tweeted out the release dates for all three characters so you know just when to log in and start running!

    Series Knuckles: April 26th

    Drummer Cream: May 13th

    Metal Sonic 2.0: May 20th

No word on if these characters will also show up in Sonic Prime Dash or Sonic Dash+ , but chances are Drummer Cream and Metal 3.0 will arrive sooner or later. Movie characters don't seem to be in these alternative versions however.

On top of the official announcements, an additional character was spotted in a recent datamine: Pyromancer Blaze! A more mystical take on the fiery cat, she looks to be an addition to this sub series of new roleplay inspired alts starting with Paladin Amy.

What do you think of this new lineup of racers? Looking to collect them all?

    UPDATE:

It has come to our attention that Series Knuckles will only show up ONCE in Speed Battle and never again. The same will probably apply to Sonic Dash as well. As of writing, the events are ongoing for both games. Please participate and unlock these characters now if you wish to ever have them.

I wonder why they're giving this version of Metal Sonic so much attention rn. At first I mistook him for Shard because I know practically nothing about Sonic Rivals 2, which got my hopes up for no reason, but if they've suddenly decided to put Mach 3.0 in the semi-spotlight again, they've got to have a reason for it, right?

    ...riiiiiiiiight?

Like, it only appeared in one game and, as MetalSkulkBane said in another topic, was a cheap recolor built by a cheap recolor. Why this? Why now?

I can't tell why now of all times, but it makes sense in concept why to do it. It's an easy recolor. Especially in the toy world, you make bank of taking one mold, and spray painting a different color, then market it as a new character.

Same for these games, recolor Metal Sonic and you have an easy basis cause its a pre-existing character from Rivals 2. Cheap to create, and more cash in the bag for you.

You can add Pyromancer Blaze and she's great!!...

At last Metal Sonic 3.0 is arriving, it may be a hint for Eggman Nega's next arrival?!...

Drummer Creamy is very funny, like the four other members of what I call " the Music Dimension" : Punk Zazz, DJ Vector, Popstar Amy and Rockstar Rouge!!...

Well, series Knuckles is just Movie Knuckles with a hat on his head (and two New attacks), but I don't care since I don't like Sonic's cinematic universe (lore and design) at all... Maybe HARDlight could have changed a little more his design compared to Movie Knuckles, even if he has to be like his series version since it is a promotional character!!...

Once again, HARDlight made a good job and I'm very pleased to have Métal Sonic 3.0 part of the Amazing roster of one of my favourite SONIC games with SONIC HEROES, and maybe my favourite SONIC game (the one I spend the more time playing it for sure)!!...

Is that a guess or is there something pointing in that direction?

I'm not sure she fits the mode to be an alt knight. So far in that collection, you have Paladin Amy, DragonHunter Lancelot and Chrono Knight Silver - all of whom still carry the armor motif and are featured carrying a weapon. You could stretch it and say this new Blaze is armored - but without a weapon its hard to imagine her as a BK alt.

This might be a new subset all-together.

I think Pyromancer Blaze will be among the jobs and Cosplay characters like Treasure Hunter Knuckles, Elite Agent Rouge, Unicorn Creamy, Panda Amy and Jester Sonic but I may be wrong...

I still can't quite wrap my head around the recent spotlights that Metal Sonic 3.0 has been getting. Sure, it's effectively just a basic recolour at the end of the day, and his appearance in Speed Simulator probably isn't the biggest surprise, given that other Sonic Rivals outfits appear in that game too. But to get his own action figure AND show up in the Hardlight mobile games which, so far, haven't really used many preexisting character alts in favour of original or Sonic Channel alts... well, it's quite a surprise to me.

It almost makes me wonder if he could show up more in the future. (He's got a better shot than his creator at least)

I don't think its as surprising as we want to believe. Sure its odd that something from Rivals of all places is getting so much burn, but you have to consider that Metal himself is one of the small handful of characters that Sonic Team would have to be more restrictive about.

His "personality", his depiction and his image are probably dealt with kids gloves in comparison to most of the cast. Metal is by far the most popular character to lag behind in the alt costumes in Speed Battle, and the only one to his name is a Sonic Channel Reaper skin that was already Sega approved.

Its as simple as that really. He's a popular character, with a demand for alts, but its probably far easier to utilize existing kit swaps for a character like him than to get permission to design something new.

I suppose it's just the thought of anything from the Rivals games, of all things, being referenced that has me surprised. Very few Sonic fans I speak to really seem to know about them beyond being "the PSP ones".

Heck, the fact that quite a few people even here mistook Metal 3.0 for Shard from the Archie Comics probably speaks to how little the Rivals games are really known or discussed.
