Five Things We Noticed in the Sonic X Shadow Generations Announcement

The Sonic x Shadow Generations announcement has come and gone and it looks exciting! An HD version of the original Sonic Generations along with a brand new Shadow campaign. But what really excites us is some of the little things we noticed in the video. While little information was given, we know at least a few things making a comeback.

BIO LIZARD RETURNS

While he was in the 3DS game, Biolizard makes his HD debut. Just how tough will it be to smash the scales off this six-story salamander?

BLACK DOOM

Shadow's creepy co-creators return for more alien annihilation. This looks like it might be a boss battle similar to when Sonic fought Shadow and had to speed up to get close enough for an attack. Can you stick it out against this stinky starfish?

FINAL CHASE

This popular (if not frustrating) SA2 level returns for another go-around! Hopefully, Generations' tight controls will keep you from launching yourself into outer space again.... and again.

SHADOW'S SWIRL LOGO RETURNS

Since this game will likely focus on Shadow's most popular appearances, it only makes sense that his logo would return from the infamous "Shadow the Hedgehog" game of 2005. Fortunately, the Generations levels should fix many of the old issues with that game and any "Sonic '06" levels that might make a return. 

SONIC'S CAMPAIGN SHOWS LITTLE IMPROVEMENT IN VISUALS

While there's definitely some improvement in its lighting (possible ray-tracing?), Sonic Generations seems to look identical to the upgraded version on Series X or PC. Even the tree branches have that flat, criss-cross effect still intact. At the very least, we should expect a 4K resolution and improved frame rate. Still, this trailer doesn't give us too much to go on, so we'll have to see more when Sonic X Shadow: Generations launches this Autumn on all current platforms.
