Why are you all spoiling it for yourselves? I'm going to wait for the actual episode to come up for download on PirateBay.

Are there that many spoilers flying around?  We know barely anything about what the actual plot of the episode will involve.

Wanna see Doctor Who at the movies? Here's your chance. Tickets go on sale Friday 25th October at 9am GMT, and the movie plays at the same time as it's simultaneously broadcast on TV in the UK, and the following day in international countries. They're playing just down the road from me, so I know what I'm doing November 23rd.

Use this map to find cinemas near you.

They've completley avoided the area (and the surrounding area) i live in, that's just wonderful. Welp, gonna watch it at home then.

They said in the news report that they'll be adding new cinemas as they're confirmed... so who knows it might not have a local cinema listing for ya? But it's probably going to a big cinema chain like Vue or Odeon, so if you have one of them stay optimistic yo~

Can't find out if it'll be in my local theater. Site went all wibbly.

They're announcing US cinema dates later this week they said, so that could be why it's all wibbly wobbly timey wimey?

Oh that's not the final list? I assumed it was for whatever reason, i'll keep an eye out then. There's one of those near me but it's a pain in the ass to get to predictibly rolleyes.gif

But if they show it, minus the 3D, at my local then i'll consider it.

I haven't been to the cinema in years.  Will The Day of the Doctor drag me back?  The answer is... no.  It even looks like it's airing near me but who cares.  I'll be watching it on TV, though (yes, legit TV!), but I might record it if it's not practical to get to it immediately.

So... of course, like a proper geek I made sure I was down at the cinema by 9am this morning to get tickets.

Went ever so largely red-faced when I realized my friend and I were the first to book. Of course, this meant we had the run of the mill choosing the best seats though, so that made up for it.

Can't wait now! 29 days! =D

Just to note, Who fandom is as mad as ever. When I approached the cinema it was still shut, but a few Fans were being "escorted" off the premises after somehow managing to make it inside the doors to book "extra early".

Speaking of the cinema tickets, it's an absolute farce with Vue at the moment. I made sure up I was up nice and early, ready for 9am... which came and went... then I saw there was a little countdown on The Day of The Doctor's listing in the coming soon section saying "tickets available at 10am"... so I waited another hour... still nothing... checked Vue's Twitter, they said they'd all be up by 10:15... and yep, you gussed it, I'm still waiting.

A few Vue cinema sites have gone live but the vast majority haven't - heck, they don't even have the likes of London up yet. This is a real shambles compared to the likes of Odeon and Cineworld who had their tickets up bang on 9am, as advertised.

Got my tickets from Odeon, so I can confirm they're already selling them. Got them online this morning and I'm surprised at just how popular the cinema release is so far, cuz they seem to be selling out fast! I thought a lot of people would settle for just the BBC broacast, but hey ho.

Took a while at my local Vue as well, they wouldn't open their doors till 9:15, and even then they still didn't have it up on their system till around 10ish.

To bring a bit of discussion back in here how about we list our favourite serial and/or Doctor.

My favourite serial is: Genesis of the Daleks

This serial just gets everything right, it has an amazing morbid tone and wonderful use of the Daleks (where they aren't overused.), it has an intriguing story with excellent characters and ethical questions ("Do I have the right?") and it introduces possibly my favourite villain Davros. Michael Wisher gives a sublime performance that gets Davros' arrogance and god complex perfectly and the story never goes on for too long as many Pertwee stories

My favourite Doctor is: The 3rd/4th (I know I'm cheating.)

I love them both equally for different reasons. I love Pertwee's Doctor as he's adventerous and charming and has a lovely dynamic with Jo Grant. He had a strict sense of right and wrong and he wasn't afraid to even tell government officials what he thought of them.

The Fourth Doctor on the other hand I love for his bohemian eccentricity. You can tell that he is an alien straight away and Tom Baker obviously had so much fun in the part. His Doctor can go from aloof to being macabre instantly.

My favourite Story (Just to be different than Reed Richards, as I share it):

Tomb of the Cybermen

This is one of Troughton's highest points (Not that there's any low points). The Doctor is clearly the only person smart enough to understand what's going on in the story, unlike most of Troughton's episodes where he is portrayed as a bit of an idiot and no body knows his true brilliance. He uses things like reverse phsychology and slyly flicking switches behind peoples backs so they're as he wants them. The scene with him and Victoria where the Doctor is telling her about his family is truly great. Jamie is brilliant in this episode. He works well with the Doctor and you can tell the cast are really working together well too.

The Cybermen are incredibly creepy in this story. The designs are very creepy facially. The voices... They sent shivers down my spine on my first watch through. The Cybermats are introduced in the story too, and while underplayed, their stage appearances are performed really well.

My Favourite Doctor? Um... I can't and you will never make me!

(If I list a top five is that okay?)

In no particular order:

Bummer, the theater in Atlanta that's playing it is too far from me, so I guess I'll be watching the special on TV then. Shame since I wanted to go and see it on the big screen.

Maybe it's because I've not seen them written down together before, but I only just realised that The Day of the Doctor is a deliberate echo of The Name of the Doctor, emphasising their (probable) status as a continuous story, with TNOTD acting as a sort of prologue to the special even while it wraps up a lot else from the Eleventh Doctor's tenure.  I wonder if the Christmas special will follow suit?  But the speculative "Twelfth Night" title seems like just too good an opportunity to pass up.

As much as I am apathetic towards NewWho I can't help but wonder why Moffat doesn't bring back characters such as Captain Jack and the like. It used to be good fun seeing the whole gang get together for the series finales (especially Journey's End for obvious reasons.) I just feel that they're kind of wasting another good bit of what they have.

Moffat did actually want to include Captain Jack in A Good Man Goes to War, but Barrowman was unavailable.  "The whole gang" now is the Paternoster Row gang, who have indeed appeared in many of the most significant recent episodes, such as The Snowmen and The Name of the Doctor.  So it's a tradition that Moffat has not actually abandoned.  I assume that Captain Jack has been out of it for so long that it's simply not suitable to just drop him in an episode in passing - the episode would actually have to be about him to a certain extent.  Maybe in Series 8 - throw him against a new Doctor and a by-now established companion and see what happens.

On TDOTD trailer news, apparently it's now been classified and word on the street is that it'll be aired on the 9th... but that's a pretty easy prediction to make as there are only so many Saturdays left now before the anniversary.  TDOTD itself will be 76 minutes and 44 seconds long and contains "mild violence and threat," while the 3D cinema version will be 85 minutes and 24 seconds due to, apparently, behind-the-scenes bonus footage presumably inserted to pad out the timeslot (and which I imagine will be made available on iPlayer or the DVD version).

Edit: And more from the BBFC - looks like there'll be a minisode!  "The Last Day," 3 minutes 57 seconds.  Of the Time War, perhaps?  (Speculation:)

Please be McGann please be McGann please be McGann.  Actually wait no that'd be more like the first day.  It's not going to be McGann, is it, it's going to be the regeneration to Eccleston with Eccleston's head inserted using CGI or something.  John Hurt standing in the middle of burning space after having ended the Time War, regenerating himself out of shame.
