Pretty nice.

Romero Britto, one of the leading artists in contemporary pop art worldwide, is having an exhibition to be seen in the Isetan Shinjuku Store in Tokyo, Japan. Among the many exhibitions to be seen will be Sonic the Hedgehog art by the artist. Other than that, there are 100 paintings total, with Sonic included, to be seen in this gallery of contemporary pop art.

Opening on April 2nd, which was yesterday, the event had a press preview by then featuring Romero Britto himself, as well as president and COO of Sega, Shuji Utsumi and Takashi Iizuka, the producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog series itself. In this collaboration between Sonic and the artist, the first picture to be shown from such a collaboration was a lively and vividly colored Sonic.

In addition to Sonic, there were other vivid and colorful art by Romero himself on display. With that, one of those was the Japan Zeon Exhibition Booth, which utilized the "Wideband Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Material" for it to be made. It allowed certain design elements, such as text and other designs, to be viewed through a polarizing plate.

In an interview with Takashi Iizuka himself, he said that Romero kindly agreed to use Sonic in his art for the exhibition, and that Mr. Romero had a colorful, pop and happy art style, which, according to Takashi Iizuka himself, would be a great match for Sonic the Hedgehog. Iizuka also talked to Romero's son, who, as Iizuka said, was a big fan of Sonic, and Iizuka said that the highlight was in the form of how Sonic was finished by Romero's talent.

The exhibition goes from April 2nd to April 7th.

So, what do you all think?

...what

EDIT: After seeing the pictures: The most Brazilian thing Romero Britto ever did in art was probably to publish his Sonic recolors.
