Angry Birds And A Speedy Hedgehog Collide In Five New Mobile Crossover Events

Ever since Rovio Entertainment joined with SEGA last year, we knew that it was only a matter of time before Angry Birds and Sonic were probably going to encounter each other at some point in some games. Sure enough, the Sonic the Hedgehog and Angry Birds franchises are joining forces for mobile crossover events that stretch across a grand total of 5 games!

So, if you're wondering what the mobile games participating in all this are, it will be Sonic Dash, Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds Dream Blast and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. It's rather complicated, as how much information is known about these events depends on the game. Each game is kind of doing its own thing within a major event.

One thing that isn't any question is the plot, which is revealed at Google's Play Store page. According to the page, the Bad Piggies managed to open a gateway into Sonic's world. Once they make it there, Eggman is waiting and decides to form an alliance with them to "support their chaos". Meanwhile, Sonic and Red form an alliance of their own to stop their evil plans and save their friends.

It is also a little complicated when these events will take place. Most of them, such as Angry Birds Dream Blast's, seem to be starting as soon as tomorrow. And as previously mentioned, the exact details of the events vary depending on the game. For example, Red and Chuck will be coming to Sonic Dash as playable characters. In Angry Birds Dream Blast, there will be a "Sonic's Flash Race" event where players must complete levels as fast as possible, and do so quicker than other players. The faster you go, the better the rewards. Angry Birds 2, meanwhile, will encourage players to check out the Tower of Fortune, where you can obtain a set of Sonic character hats.

Angry Birds Friends will feature new levels where Eggman will reinforce the piggies' towers, as well as a Friends Unite event where "you’ll have the opportunity to race against Red for the chance to win an exclusive Challenger Chest. You’ll also find Chuck, a Special character with new power-ups to play with. Earn gold rings and character cards throughout the event". The fifth game isn't listed, but has to be Sonic Forces Mobile, which had its Angry Birds assets leaked last week.

Oh, but there's one more thing! There's even a promotional trailer for the crossover. It's very brief, and the video is currently unlisted as of this article's writing, but Rovio still has it up on their YouTube. The footage features on Angry Birds Friends though, so if you're looking for anything from the other 4 games, you're not going to get any luck there. That all said, if you want to see the video, here it is (thanks, Sonic Paradise!):

My brain was thinking we'd be getting a full blown Angry Birds Sonic game much like the Angry Birds Star Wars games. Themed all around Sonic levels and characters. Throw in some cork screws and springs. I kind hyped myself up for it ever since Sega bought Rovio out last year.

The friends trailer looks cool though. I didn't think anyone played this anymore though.

Angry Birds in general is pretty fun, and compared to the original, the newer games seem like more of the same but with new birds. It's free, so no harm in trying it.
