This topic was good and got turned into Cancelled 1990s SEGA PC Version of Sonic Spinball Revealed in Uncovered Box Art at some point.

Did you know that an official SEGA PC port of Mega Drive spinoff Sonic Spinball was once planned in the 1990s? Well, we didn't - and seemingly neither did SEGA until yesterday, when its social media team discovered an unused packshot for the unreleased game in a cache of archived material.

The company's official retro arm, SEGA Forever, shared the below image on its social media channel with the words, "While Sonic CD and Sonic & Knuckles made it to the PC, it appears Sonic Spinball was also planned for a port in 1995!"

The design certainly follows that of its Sonic SEGA PC predecessors, with the white inset border and the branded logo centered at the top there. No doubt it would have come in a massive white box, containing a weighty book and a CD jewel case, like the other SEGA PC releases, had it made it to store shelves.

No other details were shared by SEGA Forever on the nature of the Sonic Spinball SEGA PC project, including why it was ultimately cancelled. But they noted that fellow Mega Drive titles Ecco the Dolphin and Comix Zone did get enhanced re-releases under the SEGA PC branding, and wonder what kind of enhancements a Sonic Spinball port would have received.

What do you think? We just hope it wouldn't have involved crappy MIDI renditions of the game's music, like the Sonic & Knuckles release.
