Well that seems so lackluster (like every kind of ride as this one) but it's cool that they are adding more stuff to Joypolis. Soon they will  have rides like "It's a Wisp world afterall," "Sweet Mountain" and "Emerald Town"....and I really hope people get the reference.

I don't care if the ride looks like it was designed for 5 year old kids. I don't care how small those carts look. I don't care if the load capacity can even handle a grown man latching onto the roof of it.

It is my dream that I will one day find a way to cram myself into one.

The more I see stuff like this, the more I want Disney to buy out SEGA so we can see these sorts of things en masse at their large variety of parks.

A cool ride nonetheless! Japan gets all the cool stuff. sad.png

I'll agree with the latter point, the former not at all.

And nobody likes Sonic there.

That's what they all say...

I do find it interesting that the ride has opted for the SA2 iteration of the ghosts as opposed to the Lost World revamp. The ride itself is pretty Haunted Mansion-esque in design and Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters in execution. It does seem a bit more inspired than, say, bean bag toss with Sonic stock art slapped on. Neat thing in any case.

Thinking again... Pumpkin Hill would be so awesome to be there in one part of this ride.

Would be a nice treat :P

There's a haunted themed laser gun ride and we haven't drawn a comparison to Duel yet?

The "Disney is Satan" era is over, though, based on how well most of their newer projects do. Just as Sonic's recovered, so have they... kind of funny both companies have that same track record of going down in the dumps for a period before rebounding.

Really I just want some Sonic-themed stuff, given that SEGA's absolute trash at running parks. Every park they've opened besides Dubai and Joypolis seems to close after about two or three years. And I don't have high hopes for that former one's lifespan.

I must concur!

Though I can't help but feel an intra-fandom war would start with some people saying Sandopolis would have been preferable...

And nobody likes Sonic there.

Alas, the perks of the company being located in Japan I guess.

Maybe one day SEGA will be bought out and become US-based again, which would resolve that issue.

Probably wouldn't sustain me, since it looks like it was meant primarily for little kids, but I would love to try this ride out.  I imagine that everytime a ghost would pop out, I'd say something along the lines of, "Ha, you surprised me!"

SEGA are already outsourcing a lot of Sonic now, not just keeping it to Japan.

Since they have a Halloween Sonic theme ride in Joyopolis can they get a Xmas theme ride of Diamond Dust Zone playing the Saturn version of DDZ Acts music?

Is that background from a Sonic game or is just random? The Boos are there as targets... maybe this is a LW level? A haunted mansion level would be very cool.

Mostly I'm just bitter Japan, the UK and Dubai (Dubai, really?) get all these Sonic goodies, while the United States gets squat. Yes we're not as avidly crazy over the hedgehog and his friends as the UK and other places, but this is the biggest market on Earth; SEGA seriously can't find a way to make money with such things here too?

Granted they do seem kind of ignorant of markets. It took a bunch of fans requesting their own Summer of Sonic to get them to realise that "Oh hey, the United States likes Sonic too."

Which is the main reason why I wish the Wreck-It Ralph thing would lead to some sort of wider partnership between SEGA and Disney... lord knows I'd book a trip to Disneyland in a heartbeat if there was some Sonic licensing there. He'd fit with the theme of the park perfectly too I think.

If we have a casino level I see no reason there won't be a haunted-themed level as well.
