NEW INFAMOUS GAME EVERYONE!!!

So what’s new? I mean, what have you been up to? Cool. Us? Not much.
Just a new character, new city, new powers, and all designed especially
for the new PlayStation 4. I hope you’re excited – because we really
are! Actually, for us it’s probably one part excitement and one part
pure terror, but that’s just the way of things I guess… But here we are
at last to break the months of silence: All of us at Sucker Punch are
very pleased to introduce you to Delsin Rowe, and our new title Second
Son! Let’s cut to the chase!

Delsin Rowe is the star of Second Son, and you probably know someone
like him: A 24 year-old who is absolutely convinced he’s destined for
greatness; though so far that greatness has managed to elude him. He
grew up just outside Seattle, where his great – if accidental – calling
comes crashing into his life. After rescuing occupants from a fiery bus
wreck, he discovers that he suddenly has the ability to direct,
manipulate and even transform into… Smoke. Could he have absorbed this
power from one of the passengers he pulled from the wreckage?

Setting the scene: It’s been seven years since the Cole McGrath
episodes and the world has clearly changed. Anyone showing signs of
being a so-called “bio-terrorist” is immediately handed over to the
Department of Unified Protection (DUP) — a government agency created to
ensure there is never a repeat of the catastrophic events of Empire City
and New Marais. So Delsin, who has never been particularly respectful
of authority, finds himself caught in the DUP dragnet – And decides he’s
not going to go quietly.

Along the way, Delsin is going to ask questions that are not just
relevant to the world of Second Son – but to the world we all live in
today. A world where we are often instructed to surrender our freedoms
to help improve our security. Ben Franklin once wrote “Those who would
give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve
neither liberty nor safety.” Is he right?

As you play Second Son, you’ll explore lots of Seattle’s familiar
landmarks. As with all games in this series, the path the gameplay and
story take will depend on the decisions you make along the way. Of
course, we are creating all these characters and locations at a
remarkable level of detail – made possible by PS4. In fact, this trailer
was produced in-house using our game engine – can you tell we’re having
fun with the new GPU, tools, and our new VFX system?

I loved Infamous 1 and 2 so I'm really looking forward to this game. And the new main character has HAIR! YES!

Who says they couldn't have made another Infamous?

I loved the infamous series so I will definitely be picking this up on launch day. I'm kinda disappointed that Cole wasn't shown, but I guess this makes the evil ending cannon now? There are still conduits around and there are a few newspapers talking about the destruction of cities lying around in the trailer.

I am excite. The first game was flawed, but still pretty great and the second is one of my favorite PS3 games. Festival of Blood ain't bad either though I still gotta get around to beating it.

Gonna miss my boy Cole McGrath though. But I'll give the new guy a shot and see where this goes.

I'm still playing the first one, and I liked it a lot. Gameplay and story-wise is great, although I feel the lack of diversity. The 3 islands have very similar buildings and structures in some parts, maybe InFAMOUS 2 already fixed some of that. But yeah, I wanna play the second one and the Festival of Blood before getting the Second Son, which seems pretty rad, even if it looks more like Prototype.

Oh, so he is the LOST smoke monster? Well, gas-based powers = free flight abilities and I'm okay with that.

What lost smoke monster? Could you explain?

EDIT: Nevermind. I'm such an idiot, you meant that monster from LOST. >_<

Oh gosh. I thought this was Prototype 3.

Seriously the main character looks like Alex Mercer from a distance. It doesn't help he has red colored powers.

I've been down with Sucker punch since the sly series. They have yet to make a bad game. Cannot wait for this. Would buy any game from them blindly(Did so with infamous). Sounds great so far. Gonna miss cole and zeke though.

Gonna miss cole and zeke though.

Well, to be fair it is impossible to include one of them in the game without saying that only one ending in I2 was canon.

As a massive fan of I2 I'm definitely hyped for this even though I probably won't be getting the console. Hopefully since the PS4 is more powerful the world will be more more interesting and probably more destructible as well. Gonna miss Cole and Zeke though since I2 really made me care about them. Damn ending... sad.png

Also perhaps the title refers to a successor to the First Sons organization, which could explain why there are conduits running around.

I'm not crazy about inFamous, but they were pretty cool and unique games.  If nothing else, I got a backpack out of inFamous 2's special edition which served me pretty well.  The main thing I want to see in this sequel is a less dichotomous morality system.  There was never a reason you could be bothered to switch paths in the middle of the game, yet the design acted like there was.  They didn't feel like one story that gave you the freedom to choose your path, they felt more like pairs of parallel stories that each kept you one one track.  I get that inFamous wants to give you the choice to be a Super Hero or Super Villain, but frankly I think a Super Antihero would be more interesting.  You can write an antihero in a way that both good and evil actions make sense in almost any circumstance.

Honestly, I think it's high time for developers to start having more moral grey in choices. Put some drawbacks with most of the choices out there rather than giving you the reward for going the path that automatically offers the best outcomes and such. It's really a matter of making the good choice cost you something that would hurt you as much as it would if you were to choose the evil choice.

But that's just for games in general.

inFamous Second Son: Cole “not Returning”, Delsin’s Smoke Powers “Only the Tip of the Iceberg”

inFamous: Second Son takes

place 7 years after the “Cole McGrath episodes” and stars newcomer

Delsin Rowe as he tries to evade the DUP in Seattle. That much we know.

What we haven’t heard is anything to do with Cole and him possibly appearing in the sequel (I won’t spoil anything to do with inFamous 2). Lucky for us, Michael McClain, QA Manager and Forum Moderator at Sucker Punch, gave out some juicy piece of news about Second Son in the forums.

Replying to a question that simply asked where Cole was, Michael gave this response:

Second Son is an original storyline in the inFamous

universe, featuring an all new lead protagonist, Delsin Rowe, with a new

origin story. Cole MacGrath’s legacy from the first two inFamous titles

ultimately concluded following the final events of inFamous 2 and he

will not be returning. The inFamous universe holds so many interesting

storylines and characters that we wanted to explore a new story arc for

the franchise.

When asked why continue the inFamous franchise without Cole, and not just create a new IP, Michael said the following:

>

The inFamous universe holds so many interesting

characters that we wanted to explore a new storyline and hero, while

still staying rooted in the open world that the franchise is known for.

Second Son is a brand new storyline, but does take place several years

following the concluding events of inFamous 2.

The core of that universe is rooted in the idea of an ordinary

person getting super powers and deciding how to use them. That’s the

inFamous universe that we’re all so excited to share with you.

Then, in another post, he talked about Delsin’s powers:

As you saw from the trailer, Delsin will have smoke

powers in Second Son but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. He’s

capable of so much more than you saw in the announce trailer…

As for why Second Son takes place in Seattle? It’s pretty simple:

As Sucker Punch is based right outside of Seattle,

and many of us have lived there our entire lives, we wanted to pay

homage to our hometown and backyard. The city of Seattle has a unique

personality all of its own and we wanted to capture that in Second Son.

Seattle is a realistic city and not just some generic non-descript

location, so we’re also to bring a whole new level of realism to the

storyline, rooting it in a location that players can relate to in the

real world.

Is the lack of Cole a deal breaker for you? Or are you just happy that they’re making another inFamous game? Let us know in the comments below.

Sad news. I'm gonna miss Cole. sad.png

Anyone else find it strange that the first two games took place in fictional cities loosely based on real ones yet now they're using an actual place?

In any event, I hope his abilities aren't entirely centered around fire; seems like the worst superpower to have in a city whose weather patterns are 60% rain.

While I'm sad that Cole won't be coming back, but at the same time I'm glad they're not using his character to prop up the franchise.

At least it's not goddamn NYC again.

re:powers: it's actually smoke. Plus given I2 gave Cole access to 2 whole different elemental power sets, additional variety is guaranteed. Hopefully they go bonkers with all the new particle stuff they can pull now, water abilities could be spectacular.

Additionally I want Dazzler-style laser lightshows. om nom

Graphics programmer: "PS4 launch title, to ship 4Q 2013."

Rumor-inFAMOUS-PS4-Launch.jpg

inFAMOUS; Second Son will ship day and date with PlayStation 4, if the resume of a Sucker Punch graphics programmer is accurate.

Under experience, he lists Second Son as a “PS4 launch title, to ship 4Q 2013.”

Another resume, that of Sucker Punch senior sound designer Andy Martin, says the game will come out in 2013.

Sony has yet to announce an official release date for inFAMOUS: Second Son.

Thanks, Siliconera.

Infamous: Second Son in Gameinformer

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2013/05/07/june-cover-revealed-infamous-second-son.aspx

Unknown.jpg

This holiday will mark the release of the PlayStation 4, and gamers can't wait to learn more about Sony's jump to the next generation. In anticipation of this big event, Game Informer set out to create the definitive PlayStation 4 issue. Starting with a 10 page feature on Sucker Punch's Infamous Second Son (the cover star), our massive feature doesn't stop there. We explore the future of PlayStation 4 including Sony's new indie agenda, discuss Media Molecule's upcoming project, and reveal new information and screens for Destiny, Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and DriveClub. On top of all that, we also interviewed Sony's Shuhei Yoshida and got our hands on the Dual Shock 4 controller.

But enough about our 30-page PlayStation 4 cover story, let's get back to Infamous Second Son.

With Cole MacGrath out of the picture, the country is on high alert looking for other conduits. To deal with this perceived threat, the government has set up the oppressive Department of Unified Protection, and they've placed Seattle on lockdown. As new protagonist Delsin Rowe, players will be given more than enough opportunities to fight the power.

Check out our coverage trailer below for a taste of what to expect from our content.
