Cameron and his wankshafting decisions can fuck right off.

I want to be able to access anything on the net, good or bad, whenever the hell I feel like it.

I don't see what the problem is. Sign up for porn, and life goes back to normal. What exactly are you are losing here?

They've actually been trying to do this for the best part of a year would you believe. (originally this was a BBC link... but I lost it)... anyway back in December 2010, they actually wanted to ban all porn on the net from being accessed by anyone with a UK ISP.

Anyhoo...

The guardians article is interesting, because it says 'opt in' to see the naked ladies... but if I read the BBC's website, it sounds more like an 'opt out' this is one paragraph that caught my eye.

"They said they would talk to parents about how to activate and administer parental controls. The tools to limit what children can see and do online are already available but, before now, have not been offered to customers as they sign up"

To me that sounds like something you would apply for as apposed to 'and with a push of this button the pussy and the pingas goes bye bye!'

Edit: Just looking at a few other articles... it sounds like current subscribers to those ISPs will not notice anything happening, but new subscribers will be asked if they want adult websites to be blocked when signing up.

If the ISP's won't cut people off for downloading stuff unless they get a cort order (unless if you live in my area in which the only ISP in the ctiy will... bastards...) Then I can't see them cutting off the porn.

Reason being? Regardless as to what you think about it, porn is a business, and it's a very lucrative business, it's no secret that porn sites are the most accessed online right? It's been that way for years and it's not likely to change any time soon.

If people start getting cut off, what do you think they'll do? Change ISP's. Yeah, the ISP's know this so why would the automatically cut you off unless they get a court order telling them to do so. Before you think 'wow, people need porn that much?' Well no, I doubt there will be a mass exodus of horny people to other ISP's, but you can bet that this block will also impact other sites, one big thing I can think of is Yahoo answers, or various sites which offer information about sexual health, might not be any naughty content of there other than the discussion, but you know that the censors will block it.

Potentially... depending how strict the censors are, SSMB's Sonic Generation forum could get blocked, considering the number of people who let everyone know about how often they... ... lost control... each time a new trailer is released.

However I can't say I like this move, this government has been allowing a lot to get blocked and censored ever since it came into power and this just seems like the next step. I made a topic a few months ago about how a court decided that BT should block it's subscribers from accessing a specific website. But looking at the other things in that 'Christian charity report...' theres a couple of other things which are a tad eyebrow raising, ban on certain music videos until a specific time? More age restrictions on movies and music videos? What?

While this is probably for the best, shoukdn't the parents be the ones, you know, parenting their kids? It's their job, not the goverment's. Also, while I don't really use Deviant Art myself, people often post pictures there that I like to check out (and no, no the pornographic ones,) and it would both suck and be awkward to have to call the ISP just to go on freaking Deviant Art. I swear let's hope this doesn't come to the United States. Plus, what if they start blocking MLP:FiM since a lot of people watch is as porn? :P

Wait, wut? Porn wouldn't be the first thing I would do this to. Yes, you have to call in, but I'm pretty sure for many it's an awkward barrier to break to just "ohai give me porn kay?" I never watch porn, but yush.

This is probably a good thing.

People will forget porn exists.

Rule 34 will be long gone.

It's a win lose situation.

The normal people will have great childhoods and the freaks and furries will die off.

I approve.

So I'd take it you'd be completely okay with normal boards and communities such as a variety of boorus or art sites like Pixiv being blacklisted, since they happen to have porn on them too among other things.

Because that is the only way any you'd be able to completely abolish stuff like rule 34 and those communities you abhor, and that would be absolutely fucking retarded.

Let's just say, as long as I don't have to call in whenever going on banning rages on the SSMB, I should be fine!

Yes!

Oh yes!

Did I say that out loud ...?

Yeah, file this under the government sticking their noses and interfering when competent parenting is the only thing needed here. Namely, not allowing children unmoderated, unsupervised internet access. I as sure hell know that if I had children, all of their internet access would be strictly monitored, all nescersary safeguards in place etc.

Althougb I will say that a little more taste and decency on the internet would go some way...

What the fuck ?

What. The. FUCK ?

This is it, UK is now the worst place to live in ever. If you're under 18.

No, seriously what the fuck. This is so ridiculous there are no words. Hey, UK, I have news ! Childrens over 9 are also interested in porn ! Children under 9 are likely not on the Internet ! Even then, install parental control and the issue's fixed ! Gee-fucking-z.

Oh, you're so adorable. I think you should be grateful to have grown up somewhere so sheltered and blanketed from the harshness of the real world that you actually think "normal people" exist.

Or rather, there is normality in what is average. And what is average is what you would consider freakish and abnormal. Because, you see, EVERY type of media in existence has been used for sex. Books? The phone? Television? Yes, yes, and oh my yes. Porn existed long before internet - porn has existed from the moment when a cave man decided to draw a sexy fat woman in a cave wall. Rule 34 was merely named by the internet community, but smutty magazines were sexualising wholesome entertainment long before the first IP adress. And, sadly, childhoods were being fucked up rather more harshly before the internet made common knowledge even more common.

So that's a 100% wrong rating. You get an achievement!

EDIT: Also, your username is now incredibly ironic.

Also, Hogfather, I hope what you're saying is accurate and it is just going to be a question of making customers more aware of their parental control options. If that's all this turns out to be, then I won't have a problem with it.

I'll continue to watch my pr0nz and no one will stop me >_>

I really don't think this measure is going to be implemented in such a way that people will have to call up and specifically ask to have access to their porn back. I imagine it'll just be a case of generic settings that won't cause particular embarrassment either way.
