First confirmed in 2014, it was announced that Sony Pictures would collaborate with Sega Sammy and Marza Animation Planet to produce a CGI/live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is currently scheduled for a 2018 premiere. While very little is known about the movie, word dropped via the Hollywood Reporter that Deadpool director Tim Miller has signed on as its executive producer.

In the consumer business, although the Group launched multiple titles including “Football Manager 2014” and “Sonic Lost World” in the packaged game software field, sales were low due to the harsh market environment.
Sega have confirmed in their newly published Financial Earnings report that the Wii U and 3DS exclusive title Sonic Lost World has shipped 640,000 copies worldwide as of December 31st. Sega also shipped 680,000 copies of Football Manager 2014 on PC in Europe and NA, while the Japan-only Soccer Tsuku: Let’s Make a Pro Soccer Club managed to ship 200,000 copies on PS3 and Vita.

SEGA’s parent company SEGA Sammy has unveiled their financial results for the last 9 months of 2010 and among the figures is an impressive record of 1,850,000 copies sold for Sonic’s Wii and DS exclusive, Sonic Colours. The title was SEGA’s best-selling of the period and managed to gain that number in less than 2 months on sale. Vanquish (PS3, Xbox 360) was the company’s second highest selling game at 820,000 copies sold and Football Manager 2011 (PC, PSP) ranked third with 690,000 copies sold between the U.S. and Europe. In total, SEGA shifted 13.6 million games around the world in those 3 quarters of the year, 3.6 million less than the previous year.
