Time for a Spring Clean? Welcome to the New Look TSS!

I say, this place does look rather fresh, doesn’t it? That’s no accident – this is the result of a looooong redesign process. It’s been a long time coming for a couple of reasons. The main one being that I’ve just been so busy with work, but also because there have been a lot of backend bits and bobs that have needed rejigging in order to make our long-in-tooth rebuilding process a reality. Yes, I know, I’ve said this loads of times before. But I mean it this time. Because… it’s June.

The Sonic Stadium has been truly lucky to have such a great team working behind it to get you the best Sonic news as and when it arrives. And now, they (as well as me, obviously) have the opportunity to quickly and efficiently get a whole heap of original written info and content back onto the site, without compromising our news reporting. You’ve probably already seen Jason’s great Archie comic reviews, or Hogfather’s impressive trips through obscure Sonic game features. Well, with this new design, we’re going to ramp up that quality long-form content for you.

It all starts with the new home page. We want our articles – the stuff that we have been spending more time on as of late – to stay on the front page and get exposure, long after they’ve been pushed off by a tonne of Sonic Lost World news. As we emphasise our video content and begin our journey to properly rebuilding our information section, you’ll find that we have dedicated space on the home page to these areas too.

At the moment, the entire site amounts to nothing but category lists right now. Except for the SSMB, of course. But in time, we will introduce new game, comic and cartoon info pages that won’t go old and mouldy within five minutes due to neglect. No! Neglect is not our middle name (anymore)! We kick neglect’s face into the dusty floor. Have it, neglect!

Ahem. The bottom line is, this new site design is just the first step in a number of ways we’re revitalising the site and how we present (and create) content to you. Also, we’ve finally got with the times and made a site design that suits bigger screens, innit. Enjoy! I’ll be around a lot more frequently, now that I’ve finally got part one of this project out of the door!

As is customary with these things, there’s bound to be a few weird things that occur as a result of the new look. If anything’s gone skewiff about the place, be sure to give us a heads up!

Guitar Hero III, Bentley Jones-ified

If you need a reason as to why Lee Brotherton/Bentley Jones coming to the Summer of Sonic convention is a big deal, you need look no further than Silver’s theme in Sonic 06. Compared to a token performance by ‘hip’ and ‘with it’ Zebrahead and a cover of a past theme, it’s easily the best on the soundtrack.

For those who live, breathe and sleep for Bentley Jones though, you can grab a Guitar Hero III mod for the PC that has a note chart for Dreams of an Absolution: LB vs JS Remix. We’d post where you can download this mod yourself, but we can’t find a source and the actual note chart is horrible. So we’ll post this video instead.

You can always hassle the video author on his Youtube page. We’d mention how the guy’s performance isn’t too good but then we’re pretty crap at GH ourselves. Hell, those Wii-groomed grannies can rock out with plastic better than we can. But that’s probably not a topic for discussion on here.

Do YOU have what it takes to put a twinkle in SEGA’s eye?

SEGA stated to the press today that at this years Game Connection events they’re looking for something ‘New and Original.’

Games Industry.biz reported that the company will be attending among other big names in the gaming world to discuss new business strategies and search for new game ideas that hope to drive their role in the gaming industry.

I have never heard of this event before and personally I think that it is a very good idea. Speaking from a trainee Games Designers point of view, this opens a huge opportunity for creative individuals who have the experience along with wanting to get noticed to pitch their ideas and goals to big companies like SEGA.

If you’re part of an Indie games company and wish to be noticed by someone like SEGA, Games Connection sounds like the best damn opportunity you’re going to get!

Hooplah! It’s Easter, the time of eating Choccy Eggs… there’s also something vaguely religious about it and all (…NAAAH, the eggs! ;D), but woo. I’m going to be taking a day or so’s holiday for Easter with family (which means no comp access, hooray – be nice while I’m gone guys!), but it wouldn’t be a holiday without a long-overdue update, right? čśë

Well, after all that Shadow the Hedgehog hullabaloozah, you people certainly have been vocal about that. Be it in the SSMB Forums, in the TSS Mailbag or be it submission of Fan Articles. The latter of which will be added next week; we had a couple of Shadow oriented articles submitted, and quite frankly I just want to avoid the thing for the time being P; So next week for the articles. Promise.
