Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (January 24th 2024) - PS, Xbox, PC, Switch

Recommended Posts

Just announced during Summer Game Fest, a brand new Prince of Persia game is incoming after a 10+ year hiatus, and more surprisingly - it's returning to the series' roots with a brand new 2D metroidvania adventure with a brand new artstyle!

So this is Prince number 6. First the DOS/3D Prince voiced by Dave Boat, then Dastan from the Sands of Time Trilogy and the 2010 Disney film played by Jake Gyllenhaal and voiced by either Yuri Lowenthal and Robin Atkin Downes, then the simultaneous appearances of Guiv and Ferdos in the official graphic novel written by series creator Jordan Mechner, and then the reboot Prince voiced by Nolan North.

I will say that it's good to see the Prince make his return after been pushed aside by Ubisoft in favor of Assassin's Creed, even knowing that it was planned to be a spinoff involving a young Prince and a member of the Hashashin. And on top of that, the Dark Prince making a confirmed appearance in the climax of the trailer. Since this might be another reboot, will this be another doppelganger, the Prince's dark side, or another instance of the antagonist taking his form?

Gee! Could Ubisoft at least try to make the new character look original?

On the other hand, I'm still not impressed with the gameplay. The graphics are nice, though.
