Honestly the closer Sonic came to matching Goku's power, the dumber the series would be. The series wasn't designed for it, and after a point the fights get so ridiculous, so far removed from a real-world context, that they cease to have impact. I'm glad Sonic's nowhere near as powerful as Goku.
