  • Sonic SatAM Juices Back to DVD With Complete Series Set

Sonic SatAm Still Cool Enough To Be on Physical Media

DiC’s Sonic the Hedgehog, AKA Sonic SatAM, is finally making its long-awaited returning to DVD with a new box set from NCircle. A pre-order listing for the DVD has appeared on Amazon, with a price of $19.99 and a release date of September 19, 2023.

The series will be printed on two DVDs, and has new box art. The listing and the box art do not mention this containing any of the extras from the old Shout! Factory box set, which unfortunately may mean it won’t have them.

Check out the DVD’s box art below:

Sonic SatAM was among the last Sonic cartoons to still be out of print, with Sonic X, Sonic Underground, Sonic Boom, and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog all receiving complete series releases over the last few years. NCircle has been responsible for the bulk of these releases.

You can pre-order the DVD here.

Man, had a feeling being back on this site was going to affect my wallet!

First the Frontiers artwork and now the SatAm collection! :D

The box art sounds like it's describing AoStH, not SatAM. Robotnik in this series is far from comedic, and last I checked, Tails certainly doesn't tag along with Sonic on every adventure...or most of them, for that matter.

How is this artwork even worse than the Penders art that was on the old (otherwise very good) DVD set? They didn't even get the series description right. Is this going to have some Adobe Encore default DVD menus or something?

And why is this on DVD and not SD BD? The old release was across 4 DVDs, so is this going to be some ass quality to boot after squeezing it onto only 2?

Isn't this the same company who published those AOSTH dvds that used a fanmade Sonic font as well as Sonic Adventure era Eggman art with Classic Sonic stock art?

No, that was MVD under license from Invincible Pictures. This is NCircle. They did Boom and compilations of Underground and SatAM. Though eventually they also did Underground volumes that were the same images as the Shout Factory sets.

Had a feeling this was coming soon after the Underground complete series announcement.

So we have some incredibly dodgy looking artwork for the front cover, and a description of the wrong show on the back.

    An excellent job all around.

LOL when I said this I didn't realize that this was the same company that specifically shit on people over this being wanted when they were asked about this a month or so ago. Yeah, I suppose the quality difference between a BD SD and a DVD and the encoding benefits would be negligible if you give so little of a shit that you're shoving 600 minutes of video onto two DVDs.

Who is this release even for?

I have this box set of Sonic SatAM which I like better with the bonus features. I would love to see It on Blu-Ray like Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog. Then again knowing me I would end up buying It again.
