Udon Entertainment yesterday announced a deal with French publisher Pix’n Love to bring their book The History of Sonic the Hedgehog to North America.
The book released in France in late April, and Pix’n Love have reportedly been working on an English release since then. The “UDON Edition” of the 300-page hardback will retail in September at a $49.99 list price.
It seems funny to think why this has taken so long to make, Sonic is over 20 years old, yet I could name franchises not even half that age which have more printed publications like this. Why it took Sonic 20 years to catch on is anyone’s guess. But, we finally have it! An official history of Sonic the Hedgehog, published by Pix’n Love, fully authorized by Sega.
French book publisher Pix’n Love has contacted us to announce that the English version of The History of Sonic will be published, and made available “at the end of June.” Just in time for the blue blur’s birthday!
The company has also responded to reports that customers were not yet getting their orders on the original French book dispatched. “The book is indeed available on the French Pix’n Love website,” company spokesperson Olivier Braillon told TSS. “Orders have started being dispatched on Monday and the Pix’n Love team is working day and night to send all the orders placed (and there were many!). So if some readers haven’t received their order yet, it is entirely normal.
Late last year, publisher Pix’N Love surprised everyone when they announced a ‘history of Sonic the Hedgehog’ book would be printed for release near to the start of 2012. However due to various problems at the publisher this ended up being delayed, but now Pix’N Love have finally revealed the final product… and what a product it is too!
