RUMOR: Release Date, Pre-Order Bonuses and New Screenshots for Sonic X Shadow Generations Leaked

Fresh images claiming to be leaked promotional screenshots and packshots for the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations have hit the internet, with a French report on the game's release date supported by a number of game industry insiders.

The above image was shared by Arsène Lupin on social media, in response to a story on the Dealabs Magazine website that claimed that Sonic X Shadow Generations will launch on October 25 and retail for $49.99 USD. Lupin also shared a number of screens and packshots for the PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions of the game, which we assume come from a haphazardly embargo-breaking publish of press assets that were no doubt scheduled for tomorrow.

Alongside new action shots of Shadow the Hedgehog's stages, the new batch of screenshots also highlight updated versions of Classic and Modern Sonic stages originally found in the 2011 Sonic Generations.

It is widely assumed that Sonic X Shadow Generations will feature in some way during the Summer Game Fest Showcase event, which is taking place in the YouTube Theater in LA tomorrow evening. If these images are legitimate (and while the supposed leaks do appear to have been corroborated by trusted fellow industry leaker Midori, we are still recommending you take all of this with a massive dose of salt), it will have jumped the gun by some 20 hours ahead of its official release to the press.

At the very least, it could mean that pre-orders for the game are due to begin very soon. And those pre-order bonuses, assuming they are real, do look very interesting indeed - a journal from Gerald Robotnik about Shadow's creation (no doubt vetted by SEGA's Lore Team) and a new skin for Sonic that assumes the form of his classic Dreamcast Sonic Adventure model. We like that a lot.

Recently, it has come about that a release date for Shadow could very well on October 25th, 2024 and at a price of $49.99. However, that's not the biggest news of the batch.

See, that news was followed up with a user that even Midori herself retweeted. Who apparently has the cover art for the game.

And what's more, a batch of goodies included, which apparently includes a legacy skin of Adventure Sonic and more potential lore to be found in Gerald's Journal.

You should upload those images directly to the site instead of hotlinking to/from Twitter, so that they don't disappear in the future if something goes kablammo. :)

I love Sonic Generations, so I'm very keen to see this all over again and the Shadow stages seem pretty cool. If that Sonic Adventure skin is real then I'm going to be all over that, haha!

Kinda insane how this quasi remaster actually has a solid chance of being the ones of the best Sonic games ever because the base is still Gens and all the potential editions sounds lit as hell, they’d have to try super hard to fuck this up

I'm not sure what's going on with that scene where Shadow has demon-like wings, but if it's real, that is so freaking awesome. My guess is that Black Doom had a hand in it. Maybe he does something that triggers Shadow's Black Arms blood to bring out his "true form" or something.

Can't wait to get my hands on that journal! I'll lose my mind if it confirms the popular theory that the Biolizard and Shadow are based off Chaos and Super Sonic.

Also it would be nice to see some more of how Gerald (and Maria) saw and interacted with Shadow.

I'm thinking the same thing, as if Black Doom "unlocked" his black aliens powers to try persuade him ... "Look at the power you could have, Shadow!"

This is sweet (although after seeing the boxart I nearly had a heart attack into thinking that this was a Next Gen release only. 

My only gripe is that they really are never going to unlink Black Doom as part of Shadow’s heritage/creation story are they? (Yes, I hate it soooo much). Still, the lore book is a cool extra nonetheless! 

And as for that Sonic Adventure skin, I really hope during the end stage results screen that they go the extra hog and have the model head spaz/glitch out from time to time.
