RUMOR: Shadow Has Been Cast in Sonic 3...and We Know Who It Isn't

We may not have gotten a Shadow casting reveal at Cinemacon on Friday, but at least a few people know who he is...and who he isn't. Notable film critic John Campea revealed this much on his Youtube channel, where he was exceptionally vague about who would be playing the role. He gave two details: it's not Hayden Christensen (best known for his role as Anakin Skywalker), but it is someone "people will be happy about." You can catch a screenshot of his Youtube post below:

If true, this simultaneously deconfirms a longtime fan casting, while confirming that the character has at least been cast, and that we're all just waiting on Paramount to reveal it. At least, as long as John Campea's sourcing is accurate. Although Campea appears to be quite reliable, he still isn't an official source, so we're treating this as a rumor.

From what we've heard offhand about what was shown, Shadow has no spoken lines - and thus no way to infer who the VA is going to be.

Not to call out the credibility of this guy, but if paramount was actually telling people in that screening who the VA is going to be, I seriously doubt they would be able to keep that kind of intel from leaking. Its too easy to anonymously float a name out into the internet.

furthermore, Paramount wouldn't be in the business of shooting down rumors. Especially not one of the most prominent ones

Aw man, now I won’t be able to hear Shadow say…

“You underestimate my power!”

We underestimate his power. Nothing is set in stone yet...

Dang I can absolutely envision this as Keanu. Though considering the vocal performances of the last two movies, I think their direction will be super solid no matter who it is

I am wondering if the creators of these films always planned to have Keanu Reeves voice Shadow and stuck in a reference to him in the first movie to get really meta.

"But people will be really happy"

It must be Keanu Reeves?

Keanu is in a film called Speed and Shadow's power is speed

and the film speed was featured in Sonic movie 1

ofcourse this is just me making a silly theory XD

It could be Jason Griffith since Jeff worked on that game and might feel nostalgic to bring him back.
