Random There's A New "Official" Album on Spotify Called 'Sonic Chad' And It's Very Weird
Dreadknux posted a topic in Sonic News
If you're a subscriber to music streaming service Spotify, and are following the official Sonic the Hedgehog or "SEGA SOUND TEAM" artists, you might have noticed a new single that dropped yesterday titled 'Sonic Chad'. Spoiler alert: it is almost certainly not official, but Spotify would have you believe it is. The absolutely bizarre release contains three tracks, each around two minutes in length. Two of these tracks are in fact "sped up" or "slowed down" versions of the first one, and that first track consists of nothing but a brief, looping (and very weird) electronic beat. Besides the strange cover art (which we presume is AI generated), there's nothing to suggest that it has anything to do with the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The artists listed (beyond SEGA SOUND TEAM and Sonic the Hedgehog, which we can only assume is a hilarious mistake) include two unknowns: "Zynthonic" and "CONTRV-PHONK". You can listen to the album here: It's likely that this was a tagging snafu on Spotify's end - we can totally imagine that this was just some chancer that tried (and succeeded) to submit their album with the SEGA Sound Team artist label, and it got approved without anybody verifying it. But it's so hilariously random that we had to write something about it. Just in the interests of being thorough, we've reached out to SEGA to find out if this really is official or not. If they come back and say it's real though, we might honestly end up with more questions than answers. Many thanks to @Maple Syrup for spotting this absolute gem of randomness. Music Preview Listen to Sonic Frontiers' Starfall Islands Theme on Spotify Right Now
Dreadknux posted a story in Games
SEGA has launched an album on Spotify (and no doubt, other music streaming services) for Sonic Frontiers. At present, only two tracks are available to listen to - a short version of theme track 'I'm Here', and a five-minute long track featuring the theme of Starfall Islands. Give it a listen below. Sonic Frontiers isn't due for release until November 2022, but already SEGA has taken the time to add a couple of songs from the game's soundtrack to streaming services. No doubt more tracks will be added over time - let us know what your opinion of the Starfall Islands theme is in the comments section below.- 1 comment
