Why hello there! The site’s looking a bit different today, isn’t it? Allow me to welcome you to this new version of The Sonic Stadium, modernised for today’s discerning blur blur fan! Incidentally, it’s the first design change for this website since 2013, making this the longest time time it’s taken for a layout refresh. I think you’ll agree that it was totally needed though. So throughout the year our site monitors and keeps tracks of various statistics because numbers are fun. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at what were the top 15 news/articles of 2015 on TSS according to total views, I have discounted individual images or hub pages like the Home page.
Please keep in mind that due to the data loss earlier this year, some of the articles featured are no longer on the site meaning their positions might have been slightly altered had they remained online. Continue reading The Top 15 TSS Articles of 2015
Yes, on this day fifteen years ago The Sonic Stadium opened its virtual doors to the World Wide Web (that’s what we called the Internet that back in 2000). And over the years, I and a trusty team of awesome Sonic fans have done our best to entertain, inform and excite with news, features, columns, podcasts and videos of anything involved with everyone’s favourite hedgehog.
We started life as a simple fansite, formed of a collection of HTML pages. After several failed attempts, we added a successful forum in the SSMB. We grew to build a streaming radio station (which later introduced Sonic-themed podcasts), an annual awards ceremony, a fangame development team, a massive video/music depository and a network that included a fan showcase, video podcasts and competitive Sonic gaming. We also kick-started a series of events in the Summer of Sonic that led to the establishment of a number of fellow fan-run conventions.
We’ve accomplished an awful lot, and yet none of it would be possible without the insane amount of contribution of TSS Network staff, past and present. So to celebrate The Sonic Stadium’s 15th Anniversary, I reached out to a number of our old and current staff and asked them to reminisce and talk about their favourite memories and moments of TSS history. Continue reading HAPPY 15TH TSS! Legendary TSS Staff Share Their Fondest Memories
Strange Scary, isn’t it? In just four days, this little website about Sonic the Hedgehog will be a decade and a half old. I personally would have spent half my entire existence keeping this thing alive (actually, let’s not think about that bit). It was on that day, 24th October 2000, that The Sonic Stadium was introduced to the world via the wonder of Angelfire‘s then-generous 20MB hosting solutions.
I’m working on a few things to celebrate the week in style, largely involving heady walks down memory lane. Timeline updates, discussions with staff old and new about their favourite memories of the site, hopefully a contest… and a special project that, as you’d expect if you know me by now, is top secret right now (that might not be ready this week though, but definitely soon). It’ll be worth it, I promise.
No, it’s not Sonic Smash Cards.
I’ll be decorating the site soon enough to get everyone into the mood. While you’re here, if you’ve been visiting TSS for a while, feel free to share your memories of this place – favourite features on the site, SSMB threads, SegaSonic Radio podcasts, anything (and if you want to do that on SSMB, you can do it here).
And as always, we’re only here because of you guys. So from the bottom of my heart, on behalf of the TSS team (past and present) thank you so much for your support and for making us your home to talk utter bollocks about a cartoon blue hedgehog for so long. It’s humbling, and I hope to keep this place alive for as long as you guys want it around.
We’ve got some plans for you all. We hope to keep you entertained and informed for many more years to come.
Rumors have been spreading, both private and in public, about a public release of a test engine of the lost Sonic game, Sonic X-Treme, which was originally planned to debut as “the” Sonic game on the Sega Saturn, which was later scrapped and replaced with the far-inferior Sonic 3D Blast, which, even though it had a nice soundtrack, was mediocre compared to what X-Treme had offered.
According to various forum posts on both Sonic CulT and the Sonic 2 Beta page, local scener HXC, Sonic X-Treme research extraordinare, ASSEMbler, of ASSEMblergames.com has obtained a copy of a Sonic X-Treme test build, which was up for auction a couple of years beforehand, and was auctioned off to a collector, who had the game for an extended period of time. Now, rumors have spread that this developmental build of Sonic X-Treme will be released to the public on July 18th, free for anyone to download and research. As has been maniacally recorded by SSMB members across the world, The Sonic Stadium has entered the prestigious accolade of “come of age” Sonic sites by hitting that ever-elusive 1 Million Visitors mark. The actual occurance happened at 3pm or 4pm (depending on who you go by, or what timezone weirding thing you use – I always note things by GMT [UK Time] naturally), and had as many as 80 people logged into the SSMB at once all celebrating. ^_^ Thanks to everyone who’s supported, supporting, and will continue to support TSS and the Network simply by visiting our website and voting on those Toplists (;D).
I will be updating TSS’ History Section tomorrow, with details on the events, including an updated Timeline as well. May even get a little “Illegitimate” with the event and all.
But I DID promise something special today, sort-of to celebrate, sort-of because I had it lined up anyway, lol. XD This is another step of TSS’ great return to form this year: The Sonic Fan Club. You may have garnered some hints when I changed the “Creative Outlet” forum list to the namesake, and it is true that Biafra and I have been trying to sort out the section so that SSMB members can post their creations on TSS.
You know, it’s good to go back and reminisce sometimes. For me, a guy who’s worked hard on a website for three years running, one particular thought comes to mind is “It’s amazing how far TSS has come”… and “Why the hell did I make so many site layouts in the first place?” Today I’ve only felt inclined to let you take a trip back with me to memory lane – The Old Site Layouts page has been revamped; images now replace the proper HTML source, for two reasons. For one thing, it stops people nicking my effing stuff with any luck, and secondly it’s a lot easier to browse if you’re a visitor. Plus you don’t need to see all the pages and stuff, which is why you see the main page evolution, along with anecdotes of the whole layout itself through the ages. Sonic News has had the same treatment, check it out on the new Old Site Layouts page. … Did you know this is the 12th Sonic Stadium layout design? o_O;…
Oh and if you fancy having an advertisement for your own website on TSS, while helping to support us at the same time, then click here – the new Sonic Stadium Banner Rotation Service.
Well, did you miss us? It has been rather a struggle, but The Sonic Stadium is back to give you, the Sonic fan, even more information and blue hedgehog related stuff than before! One of the reasons for the downtime was because of an incompetent host that we were on, we shan’t name names, but their company name was right about you only wanting (or being able) to Host there Once. =P
Anyway, we were kicked off and found salvation from the uber-generous and ever-loving Shayne Thames, of Sonic Anime.net fame. Without Shayne’s help, TSS wouldn’t be here today, so a huge hug goes out to her.
While we were down, we also has a good look at the layout of the previous TSS. Most pages weren’t finished, some had completely different layouts to many other pages, and it was basically unorganised. We’ve managed to re-organise the server folders etc and all the pages are as if they were one. If you look to the right there – that’s where the navigation menu is, that is.
Hey there, ezBoard SSMB. It’s me, Dreadknux. You know? The guy that looked after you for the past 2 years. Wow, 2 years, has it really been that long? Seemed to go really fast!
The whole place is deserted now, so it’s just me on my own. Everyone has gone to the new SSMB – the YaBB. Can’t say I won’t miss this place – there are certainly some things I will miss however.
I thought I’d just place one final ‘log’ here, so that if this board is _still_ active in a few years time, people can defrost you, and look at all the messages of yesteryear. Kinda like those ‘messages from the past’ thingies where you slap a message in a capsule and it shouldn’t be opened until 20 years time.
The YaBB SSMB is practically the same as it always has been, but aside from the annoyingness of it all, ezBoard has been quite cool for a starter MB. I remember all of the names this place was under, still – Sonic Stadium MB, Dreadknux’s Forum… even the ‘Dead Sonic Message Board’ when I got really depressed last year. Before the re-launch of the Sonic Stadium in 2001. Continue reading ezBoard: The Last Ever Post…
Hey everyone, and welcome to the Sonic Stadium’s month-late Birthday party! The Music Zone’s up and fully online, all the new MIDIs are present, so have a whale of a time! Deeply sorry for keeping you waiting this long for them, but Topcities are dump, so, there. More hoaxes from Ultimo and Ace Fox, more links, and the Surgeon you love to hate, Dr. Dre(ad) is back and answering your questions! Continue reading TSS UPDATE: Happy (late) Birthday to The Sonic Stadium!
My Birthday has passed, and I am extremely happy. Not only does the Linkin Park album rock to hell (well, I kinda knew that anyway) but I also bagged myself a Game Boy Advance. I’ve yet to play any GBA games for it though – I could only afford a trade in, but I still got some of my GBC games. Just gotta get a GBA game next week then. Sigh. Yes, the greatest Fan Fair to hit the internet has opened right here in the Sonic Stadium, and as the Sonic site itself re-opens after a refreshing e-makeover. Continue reading Sonic Fan Club Opens
Well, this is my first update, and I’m pretty much settling into my web home, it’s very nice. A few of you have replied back to me and commented on my website, and (thank goodness ^_^) people seem to like it a lot. A few niggles were commented on, but I’m on a roll here and it’s probably sorted out anyway.

Hey dudes, and welcome to the Sonic Stadium! This website is about everything Sonic! As you probably have guessed, this website has just been born, but it will soon expand. There’s plenty of Super Sonic stuff on show here. Click on a link and you’ll be taken there at Sonic speed! Most of these links have not been completed yet, and because of this there is not much point in putting the non-completed pages up at this time. But rest assured, once I am on my feet I will get everything online and ready! Little to discover at the moment, but hey, enjoy what’s there (Yeah, like you will). Update soon.
