The 13th Annual Sonic London Meetup

On February 23rd, the 13th annual SonicLondon event will be taken place, and Sonic fans aged 18 or over are invited to come along!

What’s SonicLondon? Well, Sonic London is basically a community meetup started by long time Sonic community member HelenBaby, who has been organising the event since 2010 and it’s grown in size and recognition over the years.

Entry is free, but spaces are limited so make sure you confirm your attendance on the Facebook Page so the organisers have an idea as to how many are going to attend.

“Sonic fans over the age of 18 are invited to attend SonicLondon, a public meet-up of Sonic fans that takes place regularly in the UK capital. The next meet is set to take place in Meltdown London, an eSports bar in North London, on February the 23rd.

Inspired by a bunch of Summer of Sonic fans talking about meeting up more frequently than the annual con, SSMB member HelenBaby went ahead and set up the group in 2010. The first meet-up was held shortly afterwards, and the upcoming meet will mark the group’s 13th gathering.

The theme for the upcoming meet will be Sonic Lost World in celebration of Sonic’s latest adventure. As the last meet was also Lost World-themed this one will be deemed ‘Hard Mode’ in homage to the extra mode players unlock when completing Lost World’s main story. In addition there will be a competition at the event which will require a copy of the 3DS version of Sonic Lost World in order to participate. The other contests, however, are open to everyone. Also, just to clarify : despite Sonic Lost World being the meet’s theme it will still be a general Sonic meet, just like the others!

Aside from the contests activities at the meet will include chatting, drinking (seeing as it’s held in a bar) and drawing (paper and pencils provided).

Roger Craig Smith to attend MCM London October Expo

Roger_Craig_SmithWell, this is a nice surprise! It’s just been revealed via the MCM Expo Twitter page that Roger Craig Smith – the current voice actor for Sonic the Hedgehog – will be attending the London Comic-Con later this month. Though Roger will be in attendance primarily to promote his role as the titular character in Batman: Arkham Origins, his appearance will also come hot on the heels of the UK release of Sonic Lost World.

According to Gamasutra, Roger will be signing autographs, making personal appearances and taking part in a panel to answer fan questions throughout the weekend at MCM. You’ll be able to find him at the WB Games stand on both Saturday 26th October and Sunday 27th October, as confirmed via the MCM website.

If you can’t make it to the MCM Expo, Roger will also be appearing at GAME’s Stratford store on Friday 25th October from 9:00-11:00am to meet fans and sign copies of Batman: Arkham Origins.

Are you going to the MCM Expo this month? And if so, do you plan on saying hi to Roger? Let us know in the comments!

Jazwares Reveal Sonic 20th Anniversary Figures & Plushes At London Toy Fair

Jazwares has revealed their plans to launch a series of special Sonic 20th Anniversary figures and plushes at a recent London Toy Fair. A range of prototypes and concepts were on show at Jazwares’ booth, including a figures series called “Sonic Through Time”, which as the name suggests are figures based on Sonic’s design at a various year in his life. Also on show was a Shadow figure & comic pack, classic Dr.Eggman with Egg Robo’s figure pack, modern Dr.Eggman with Egg Pawns figure pack and modern Tails with a modern sandworm Badnik figure pack. New plushes shown were a large Shadow and a large classic Sonic, both 20th Anniversary labelled.

Since this line up was shown at a London toy fair, there’s hope that Tomy (distributor of Jazwares figures in the UK) will release these in the UK. No other information is available at present, but we’ll keep an eye out and report back. For now, check the two photos out and share your opinion of these new figures in the comments.

Thanks to SonikkuForever at the SSMB for the heads up and to Barry the Nomad at the SSMB for finding the last three pics.
