Koji Igarashi, also known as IGA, producer of the Castlevania series at Konami before it was outsourced to MercurySteam for the Lords of Shadow series, has left the publisher to open his own development studio. His last day was Saturday, March 15th (two days ago). IGA is best known for having worked on Castlevania titles such as Symphony Of The Night and produced the series since then, most visibly in multiple games on the GBA and DS. For a full list of his works, see here.
IGN quotes him on the following:
In addition, IGA will be conducting a session at GDC on March 21st called "There and Back Again: Koji Igarashi's Metroidvania Tale."
Clearly we haven't heard the last from IGA, but what's next for him? An IGAvania game on mobile platforms, or a Kickstarter in the vein of Mighty No. 9? It could be a while to wait, but perhaps we'll get a hint at GDC on Friday.
Discuss.
