  1. Collectors will have a busy year, as we're looking at several noteworthy releases from this month and beyond. Expect three new characters and a reprint in the Jakks Pacific 4" line, two new Hallmark ornaments, and a joke book that I'm promised is very funny by its Amazon listing. New Figures in Jakks Pacific 4" Line - Original post by Failinhearts Thanks to some Amazon Listings found by Sonic Merch News, we have our first look at the rumored Wave 16 set of Jakks Pacific's four inch figure line! And the leaks were right on the money! This wave has a whopping three brand new characters, two relatively deep cuts and one that's long overdue! This wave introduces the first four inch Classic Knuckles, with the uncommon accessory of a Purple Chaos Emerald that hasn't been since a Sonic reprint in 2020! We also have a very interesting surprise in the form of Metal Sonic 3.0, with a Red Star Ring! This is the first time in the Jakks' line that a figure has been repainted to represent another character or form entirely, being the same mold as the 4 inch Metal Sonic. While we don't have a full image, we have a very exciting third figure in the form of Heavy King, with his accessory being his own staff! The product photo even shows that he might have metallic paint, making him potentially even more of a valuable and sought after figure in the range! The fourth figure in the wave is the usual smiling Modern Sonic, with a Checkpoint accessory. Hallmark Ornaments Sonic Merch News also reports that we could expect at least two new Sonic series Hallmark ornaments this year, including an animated one. The original Twitter/X post shows off both as samples and/or prototypes. As the video shows, the Green Hill ornament portrays classic Sonic doing a figure-eight peel-out through the Green Hill loop, complete with several game-accurate details, sound effects, and lighted rings. The nice flat base would makes this just as friendly a desk ornament as it is a tree ornament. The other is a Christmasy render of Santa-Sonic with a red hat and sack of toys, his waggling finger pointing out all the good and naughty children. Presumably the actual release won't be quite as flat. Or quite as inexpensive as the display suggests. Sonic the Hedgehog Jokebook Our final inclusion is (as of writing) a U.K. exclusive "Sonic the Hedgehog Official Joke Book" from publisher Farshore. As pointed out by Dave Luty on Twitter/X, the book will be releasing rather soon, February 26, and for a mere £4.99 on Amazon.co.uk. And really, how can you pass it up with hilarious entries like "Why is Sonic so bad at sharing? Because he's a hedgehog." You see, it's a comical bit of wordplay. "Hedgehog" refers to Sonic's species, but as a compound word, it contains "hog," which in itself means to take or possess something in a greedy manner. Hence, by being a "hog," it suggests Sonic is bad at sharing even though that's not the entirely intended meaning of the word being used within "hedgehog." Expect full and complete coverage when I repeatedly pressure Dreadknux to purchase and review this book in full. In full. Sonic News Tips Credit: Failinhearts Original Post Content: View full story

  3. If you happen to be in Japan for the Tokyo Game Show this year, you're going to need a big swag sack - because SEGA is offering a whole heap of exclusive merchandise to attendees who play Sonic Superstars at their booth. The headlining item here is an incredible Sonic Superstars-branded manga which offers a short hand-drawn story as an introduction to the events that take place in the upcoming Classic Sonic game. You can see a video that SEGA posted on social media below, check out the artwork! 2023-tgs-book-video.mp4 Players can also get themselves one of four Sonic character masks (although you won't be able to choose which mask you can get - we assume it's first come, first serve). Freak out your friends and neighbours with these high quality-looking plastic faces! Image: SEGA on X The masks and book will be freely distributed to anyone playing Sonic Superstars on either the business days or public days of TGS, until they all run out. Fans can also get a special t-shirt, but there are other conditions tied to it; we believe you need to actually complete the demo in order to be able to get one of these. Image: SEGA on X There is also a set of stickers and a clear plastic file folder available, for attendees who play Sonic Superstars and agree to complete a post-demo questionnaire about what they thought about the game. But the SEGA booth won't be the only place you'll be able to get most of these gifts - there are a couple of partner booths dotted around Tokyo Game Show which also have some of these items available. You can get yourself the manga, a mask and a second exclusive clear file folder by getting a Samsung Family Game Pack (which we assume is a pay-for product), or you can hit the Samsung and Galleria booths to net the stickers and clear file folders, as illustrated below. SEGA usually does a great job with exclusive merch at Tokyo Game Show, but this year the company seems to have outdone itself with the manga and t-shirt. Will you be in Japan and getting any of these? Are you super super jealous like we are right now? Let us know in the comments section below. Original Post Content: View full story

  5. Hope you're ready for some sexy, sexy coloring act-- oh, wait, I'm being told that's not what an "Adult Coloring Book" means. Ahem. Today, Wario64 posted an Amazon listing for "Sonic the Hedgehog: The Official Adult Coloring Book" for release on October 25. It can be pre-ordered for $12.99 USD. The listing cites 64 pages of "all-new art" featuring "iconic Sonic characters, places, and power-up items...." The book comes from novelty publisher Insight Editions, who has produced many licensed coloring books, journals, "Tiny Books", tarot decks, and art books. We don't yet know if the art in the book will be truly original, if it uses existing stock art, or some combination of both. Amazon features a LOT of unofficial Sonic coloring books-- no really, there are SO many unofficial coloring books, like I can't begin to express exactly how many unofficial coloring books the platform has. However, this marks one of the seldom few OFFICIAL coloring books, including SEGA Master System/Genesis: The Official Coloring Book.
  6. An official Sonic-themed cookbook will be coming later this year, according to a leaked listing from Amazon. The book, which will feature writing from PixelatedVika and Ian Flynn, will feature such recipes as chili dogs and Dr. Eggman’s “evil cookies.” The book will release on October 17, 2023 and will be published by Insight Editions. Sonic the Hedgehog: The Official Cookbook will feature more than 50 recipes inspired by characters from the series, all of which can be made within 30 minutes and span multiple skill levels. The book has technically not been announced, since Ian Flynn has stated he can’t talk about it yet. We may be getting more info in the coming weeks once the book has been officially announced. You can pre-order the physical book ($29.99) or the Kindle edition ($11.99) here.

  9. Written by Ian Flynn, no less. Releases Junes 1st. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1506719279
  10. I'm currently reading "Sonic and the tales of deception", one of the last Sonic-related books in being released, and despite how cheesy it feels at times, I'm enjoying it. As a matter of fact, the more I read, the more I want SEGA to start investing in this type of content. Let's imagine for a second the amount of possibilities Sonic literature can easily open for this franchise: Prequel books that provide the fans with more context and backstory from the games. Short novels based on the IDW comics, or even the Sonic cinematic universe. Informative books that give us an inside look of locations, artifacts, and the background story of every character of the series. Gotta ask, am I the only one who wants to see stuff like these?

    The Hunger Games

Topic title says it all. Feel free to dicuss any Hunger Games related media. The book is set about a hundred years in the future after a (presumed) nuclear war. A nation called Panem arises and is spilt into 12 districts with the Capitol in control. As punishment for the districts' rebellion about 75 years before the first book the Capitol demands one boy and girl from each district to essentially fight to the death. The trilogy (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay) is about Katniss Everdeen and how she deals with this situation.
