Sonic Musical Spectacular Competitions EXTENDED By A Week!

The Sonic Musical Spectacular has come and gone, and what an event it was! We streamed the whole thing on our Motobug channel, as well as on our YouTube for the very first time! And the vibe was epic throughout, with great chat and loads of fun times. I even managed to join the stream a few times, and had a blast!

Now, you might know (or you might not know, evidently) that for the last month we had been running a themed set of contests alongside the Sonic Musical Spectacular 2024. One was a Fan Art contest, and another was a Blog/Journal Writing contest. The deadline for getting entries in was technically yesterday.

But after seeing the number of entries we've had so far, I think it's only fair to extend the deadline by an extra week. For one thing, we had an issue where members were unable to correctly tag their Fan Art for that contest, which means their entries could have gone unnoticed. I've now FIXED that problem (and tagged the images I assume are for the contest - if I've missed you out, please go back and tag your entry ASAP), but wanted to give everyone an extra chance to post their art as a result of that issue.

For the Blog Writing contest, sad to say that we've actually had next to NO entries come in for that. Which is weird, because I genuinely thought that would be the lower barrier for entry for most of you. So I'm extending that too in the hopes that we actually get some entries in for that one.

The Prizes

Just in case you need incentive, here are the prizes currently on offer* - they're the same prizes for both Fan Art and Blog Writing contest:

FIRST PRIZE:

Sonic Frontiers - Music of Starfall Islands on Vinyl

HOW TO ENTER

FAN ART CONTEST

• Location: Sonic Stadium Gallery Zone
• Objective: Post a new piece of hand-drawn or digital artwork inspired by the music of Sonic the Hedgehog.
• Ideas: You could draw an imaginary album cover based on your favourite Sonic songs, create a scene involving music (Sonic listening to music on his headphones, maybe?), or realise the lyrics of a Sonic song (Tails standing there feeling the sunshine in Green Hill Zone? Perhaps!)
• Requirements: Art has to be posted in the Gallery Zone (not in the Forums), must have a Title/Name, must be tagged "Sonic Musical Spectacular".
• Restrictions: No AI, no image manipulation, has to be original art.

BLOG WRITING CONTEST

• Location: Sonic Stadium Blogs Zone
• Objective: Post a new blog entry writing about Sonic the Hedgehog music.
• Ideas: This could be a review of a Sonic soundtrack, a story inspired by Sonic music, or a personal journal about how much the music of Sonic the Hedgehog has been a part of your life.
• Requirements: Blogs must be posted in the Blogs Zone (not the Forums or in the Comments section), must be in English language, at least 500 words, must be tagged "Sonic Musical Spectacular"
• Restrictions: No plagiarised works, no AI-written copy.

DEADLINE

The new deadline is as follows:

• US Pacific Time: September 8 @ 11:59pm PT
• US Eastern Time: September 9 @ 2:59am ET
• UK Time: September 9 @ 7:59am BST

It's honestly a bit surprising to hold a contest on TSS and actually not get enough entries for it (that's truly never happened before), so I'm expecting everyone to get together and do their best! GO FOR IT!
