I'm in a weird spot with Sonic where the stuff the series has been doing recently has been getting tons of praise, but I don't really care either way. Its a strange feeling to have.

Here is a little something for you all.
-
Strange timeline we’re in when a Netflix Anime Adaptation is doing better than Marvel movies in audience reception.
I’m still not watching One Piece, but congrats for them not ruining this for fans!
-
Honestly, I haven't really been watching the Netflix dubbed anime shows, except for the ones that are original to the service like Komi Can't Communicate and Kakegurui. I still haven't watched the Netflix version of Neon Genesis Evangelion yet, but that's because I wanted to watch the original English dub of the anime first and yet, that one is almost impossible to find.

I'm sorry but she's terrible

After a illness-related few days delay, I’m finally in the cinema for A Haunting in Venice.

I've finally played Frontiers (for about one hour). In cyberspace, this is, without a doubt, BY FAR, the worst Sonic has ever controlled in 3D. It feels like a whole different studio programmed this, because the open zone controls... fine (when you set all the sliders to MAX at least). Nothing to write home about tho'. When the other half of your game controls like dog shit, it's kinda easier to think the other half is good. Still think Adventure plays faaaar better overhall. Other than that, damn the graphics are worse than I thought. The fights are mashy and boring... not off to a good start ngl

I'll never excuse them for rehasing stage tropes for the umpteenth time, and recycling level design as well to create inferior versions of Unleashed and Gens stages, making Sonic slower, etc. The only upside is that these stages get longer and more unique later. The final island may have better cyberspace but the island itself... is a legit disappointment.
Anyway, I haven't enjoyed a Sonic game like I did with Frontiers probably since Generations, I finished my 3rd walkthrough now before the release of update 3 yeah, it's not their best attempt but it's a start in a direction I like so far, although I do think, even without having played it that Superstars is more polished and worth 60 than Frontiers honestly, but it's also early to say I guess.

I beat Kronos. The Titan boss fight is hype because of the music and the scale of it all, but it's just as messy to look at, as is it to play. The controls and the camera are BALLS, Holy moly.
The little I've played of Ares is already more fun than Kronos.
Getting new -technically old- songs is cool, because I'm not gonna lie.... the default stuff is well composed, it's beautiful and all... but I only ever felt that Sonic rush (pun intended?) when I was running around at the sound of Sand Oasis, Seaside Hill, Windmil Isle, etc. etc.

Tokyo Game Show reception to Sonic Superstars has been pretty interesting. It's proving very popular and reception has been positive - and judging by the comments it also seems like it's a LOT of peoples' first proper exposure to the Classic formula. It seems a lot of this crowd is carryover from all the new fans brought in by Frontiers last year.

That definitely is NOT the case, Stricker. Forces was barely even talked about as far as impressions went for TGS and those that did talk about it were pretty much on the "Meh" side. They tend to not be as explosive with their reactions as we are over here unless they really like something, like with Frontiers and Superstars, but it was pretty clear Forces wasn't doing much for them outside of certain VAs being in it.
There's really no reason to be hesitant about Superstars at this point. It's clearly going to be a good time and a decent entry.
-
I have to say it's kinda nice that games like Frontiers and Superstars seem to be getting a lot of positive attention and press. I know the former is kinda middling/divisive, but I haven't seen Sega show a 3D Sonic game like Frontiers with anything resembling pride since Unleashed (I don't like the game, but its marketing period is one of the most fun this series has had).
Almost makes me a bit sad my interest in the series jumped off a cliff the past year lol
-
Yeah, I wouldn't say my interest in the series is at a high atm either. Like don't get me wrong, it's great to see it get praise and I don't mean to knock that or anything. I just sorta still have a guard up is all and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Sega and ST have definitely put up this new effort as of late to at least attempt real change but a lot of that still remains to be seen.
Add in how my interests in Superstars specifically is rather... minimal and yeah, I'm haven't really been following this press cycle like I usually do. There's simply too much other stuff (both irl and in gaming) going on right now.
Hell, I want to be hyped for that 3rd Frontiers DLC but I legit don't know wtf to expect with it. So, I can't even get properly excited for that either.

30 years since Sonic CD came out. time really does fly, Little Planet or not. One of the best games with two of the best characters: Amy and Metal Sonic!
-
Just took a trip on the ye old WayBack Machine. Destination? The old Sonic 2006 website, for whatever reason. And noticed this:
It's mentioned that Silver's not the only future inhabitant capable of telekinesis. So, I've got a theory! Since he comes from the future + his gloves & shoes are different than everyone elses (implying the cyan circles on the gloves) + that bit of trivia = his abilities are made possible thanks to this future tech?
interesting thought regardless.

So, question for fans of mecha... why does this shit always have to be weird lol?
Just finished ng++ on AC6 and I'm simply confused with the ending. Seems like these stories always start out semi-normal and by the books but in the end it all just becomes a race of who can jump off the deep end faster.
Witch from Mercury, this, Eva... could just be the ones I've seen but I do feel it's a bit of a trend.

So, to day is the first day of Autumn...
And the day Sonic CD first released in Japan, apparently.
Happy Autumn, everyone, and happy birthday, Sonic CD!
Happy birthday to Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, too, who first appeared in Sonic CD.
-
I'm currently preparing a NG+ save for update 3. Does anyone have a clue when I should stop? I was thinking right before the chaos island boss..but not sure.

List one thing that has made you smile today

The remixed vocal songs in Persona 3 Reload have so far been a mixed bag. The new singer is clearly very talented, but her cadence is much different from the original vocalist - and the remixed songs don't do a good job accounting for that fact. They should have been bolder and more experimental with them, rather than faithful.

Why am I seeing so many sizable discounts for pre-orders of Mario Wonder?
Nintendo games never go on sale

I’m a unique breed that both loves and hates the type of bullshit where after you beat the boss, the motherfucker resurrects themselves for a second, even harder phase. Like, “Yes! Kick my teeth in while I’m cussing you out so that my urge to beat your ass increases!”

Everytime a new DBZ games is announced and they decide to do ALL the sagas again I can only imagine Masako Nozawa going "Ah, shit. Here we go again" at home.
