Sonic Speed Simulator: Golden Metal Sonic 3.0 Event Guide

wait, didnt we already do an event guide this week.

Alrighty, so looks like on top of the new Games event that was added on Thursday, we're getting our normal update on Saturday with a event featuring 2000 RSRs and Golden Metal Sonic 3.0. There's a bit more to this one compared to normal, but with this guide, it should be easy enough, so let's hop right in.

Task 1: Collect 2,500 Chaos Gems In Races - REWARD: 2x Gold Omochao

Not to be confused with the gold chao that's available via the golden eggs event, the Gold Omochao featured for this reward is attained by collecting 2,500 chaos gems specifically in races, meaning that cheesing with autorun isn't going to be a option this time.

You can really choose any race for this one, but for our purposes, we want the fastest done race, with as little wait time as possible, so we're heading for Race World via the rocket next to Dodon Pa.

When we get to Race World, if you've used these guides before, you know my go to for these things, and it's the same here - head for the Metal City race ring where Jet is.

As a event race, this will immediately skip the lengthy 25 second countdown at the beginning of every race and let us get right into it, making it ideal to speed this up. Now just rush through the race collecting as many gems as you can and move onto task 2 when you're done!

Task 2: Gain 90 Seconds of Air Time - REWARD: 2x Gold Trails

This is a objective we don't see very often at all, but luckily we have just the trick to make this one extremely easy. Head to Hill Top Zone which is unlocked after New Yoke City.

Upon entering Hill Top, you want to just go straight on, jumping past the large lava pool, and jumping right into the first bottomless pit you see.

The pits in this world simply bounce you back up, rather than respawning you, and this means for every single bounce, as you technically haven't touched the ground, it ALL counts for air time.

Just keep bouncing for 90 seconds, and boost back onto solid ground, and the task will immediately complete itself, letting you move on.

 Task 3: Complete 15 Gold Time Trials - REWARD: 3x Gold Chao

As you would expect, this is as simple as it sounds. You need to finish any 15 time trials with a gold time, this obviously being a easier task depending on who you have unlocked, as the likes of Super Sonic and ESP Silver can make it a trivial matter. Which time trial you want to spam is of course up to preference. 

However, since Diamond Terminal is still here, we're heading back to my ol' reliable for any time-trial related mission.

Time Trial 1 remains my constant time trial mission fallback. The route is heavily automated via rails, meaning it's extremely easy to get gold medals on it, in spite of character. You can see that I'm well under half the required time needed for a gold rank as my best time, so spam this 15 times and it'll get the mission done ASAP. Even less with Chocola and Red Hero Chao providing a boost to event gains.

Task 4: Defeat Dr. Eggman 2 Times - REWARD: 3x Gold Trail

For the next task, you'll have needed to finish Emerald Hill to unlock the Dr. Eggman boss battle. You can do either the regular mode or the hard mode, but given we just want to get it done ASAP, we're going for the easy fight.

The Eggman fight is very easy - Eggman will create a forcefield around himself while trying to freeze you with a ice beam - avoid the beam and smash the generators to break down the forcefield.

Once the forcefield is down, run over and hit him. A few hits and he'll go down quickly. Do this a second time, and this task will be done.

Task 5: Collect 25 Golden Parts - REWARD - Golden Hoverboard

The most annoying task of the bunch - 25 golden parts have been scattered all around Green Hill, and you'll need to run around to find them. Frankly, they've picked the worst possible time to drop this on us because right now, Green Hill is also filled with sunstones and pizza slices from two other events, meaning it's going to be even harder to specifically pick out gold pieces.

Luckily, the golden pieces do have one distinct feature at least - a purple glow that radiates off of it, which will hopefully make them easier to find. I can't provide a exact guide to every spot it'll be in Green Hill, but check the beach, and all major landmarks including Tails' workshop. If it's like the TMNT event, there should at least be over 25 pieces to give you some leeway in finding them all. Once you get all 25, you'll finish the event.

What is important to note is that the event boost DOES apply to this, so you can give yourself a lot of leeway by getting Chocola and Red Hero Chao, with a boost of five pets making each gold scrap count for four.

Conclusion:

With all of the tasks now complete, if you head to your character menu, you'll now find Golden Metal Sonic 3.0 in your inventory waiting for you.

Go ahead and select him, and equip him, and congrats, you're now running around as one of the few new versions Metal 3.0 is going to see.
