Favourite Song; TEAM CHA-O-TIX!!! Even after over 20 years of this song's existence I think this is peak in terms of fun and frenetic energy. There are three reasons why I like this so much.
1. I have a huge bias for the Chaotix. What else can I say?
2. It is quintessential 00s pop-rock that never fails to get me to sing out loud.
3. It's genius because the "we are going use the themes to blatantly explain the teams and big them up" angle Heroes took with the vocal themes works in-universe for them as a massive advertisement, so it gels perfectly with their characters.

I -think- that covers everything? Looking forward to the stream!

Here's this year's wallpaper, as promised... fashionably late. I was having a lot of trouble coming up with ideas for this one, and the ideas I did come up with came out looking pretty bad in practice, so I ended up going with a "less is more" approach. What you see here was the result of that mentality. Sorry if it seems a bit plain, but this is the only design I was at all satisfied with.

As for my favorite Sonic song, after really thinking about it, I think "History" from Sonic Mega Collection gets my vote. Sure, this more slow and almost somber track may not be a banger like, say, Live & Learn or Undefeatable is per se, but due to said slow tone and my personal nostalgic connection to Sonic Mega Collection Plus, this track hits me like a sack of bricks every time I hear it. The only other Sonic songs I can say have even close to this amount of emotional impact are maybe Dear My Friend and the original version of I'm With You. Even then, they don't come that close. Plus, the song fits perfectly for reminiscing and taking a trip down memory lane, making it a very fitting piece to include on a disc full of old games.

My favorite among these has to be "Livin in the City" from Sonic R. This was a game I frequently played on my Windows 98 when coming home from a long, difficult day at school. My favorite time to play was when it would rain outside, and I'd set the weather controls in the game to the rain setting as well, and play this level over and over again. T

The lyrics were a bit difficult for an under 10 year old to understand, but as an adult, they hit hard! Time seems to be going faster, there's so much to do, and yes, you really do have to keep your own dreams alive because no one else will. But that's the fun and beauty of it, I think. (Yes, this all sounds corny, and it is, but it still means a lot to me!)

EDIT: OK turns out I have to write up something about my favourite song. Which is, uh. Difficult. You could probably ask me what my favourite Sonic song is every week for a year, and you'd get a different answer almost every time. It's rare that I have one specific favourite anything.

But for the purposes of this write-up, let's say my favourite song for the moment is Find Your Flame from Sonic Frontiers. I've not played Frontiers, but I've reliably seen that it's where the pendulum has swung back to "we're anime as balls and we're not afraid of it" after having swung in the opposite direction since around 2010 or so. It's one of those songs you listen to and can easily picture some sort of epic music video or fight scene taking place to it. And I have - multiple times.

Guess I should do my essay on my favorite song, huh? Well, it's kind of hard to settle on just one, given how good the selection is, whether it be a lyrical tune or not. But, without beating around the bush further, if I just had to choose one in a pinch, I think I'd have to go with What I'm Made Of. Get ready for me to ramble on a bit.

I can recall the first instance of me ever having heard of the song, which was through a Flash (I think) "game" called Sonic Scene Creator version 2 (I also think). In its one set of scenes and sprites, which were referred to as "Next Gen," the beginning portion of the song played on loop. And through the bit of time I spent on the game in my younger years (Kindergarten-ish, maybe a little earlier or later), I found myself well acquainted with the song. Since then, I've listened to it numerous times, including whenever it's been available in non-Heroes games (Generations, Speed Simulator), or when it's been set to different AMVs. It being a rock song definitely helped make it more favorable to me, and when compared to its fellow Crush 40 competition, like Live and Learn and Open Your Heart, in my eyes, it comes out on top. It's versatile, in that, musically, it's good as a final boss song, whether it be in its original vs Metal Overlord setting or otherwise, and lyrically, in that, it perfectly fits as a theme for Sonic or Metal Sonic. Its lyrics are also kind of inspiring to. Funnily enough, I have still yet to hear the song in its original form, having only acquired Heroes about, what, 3 or 4 years ago? Damn, time sure flies by, doesn't it?

Well, anyways, there goes my essay. Thanks for listening to me ramble. And I think that covers everything I had to do for the event. A pretty cool idea, I must say! Can't wait to see how the final playlist turns out!

Although this was not on the list of songs I have chosen, I have and always will hold a soft spot for Number One from Sonic R. Sonic R was pretty much the first 3D sonic game I've ever played and sometimes I would just play the courses on Time Trial just to explore them instead of racing. In other words, it was pretty much the "Proto-Sonic Adventure" for me... But I digress. Number One I have fond memories of, as I remember jamming out to it when I beat the game way back when I was little. It's such a 90s sounding song, and with it being my first exposure to Vocal songs in Sonic... or hell, vocal songs in video games in general, it fills me with nostalgia every time I listen to it. A much simpler time when computers and 3D games were still new to me.

Rock Out with us THIS weekend!

This is a bit new for us, isn't it? If you missed it earlier, the official Sonic Stadium twitter dropped a tweet unveiling our Stream Dates, along with a brand new teaser trailer created @Polkadi~☆- showcasing the format of the style we're going for this year!

As you can see from our custom stream, we're going for a mixture of Sonic Generations' history-recapping style, gradually being taken over by everyone's favourite edgy rival hedgehog! The trailer didn't showcase the full format however (don't worry - everyone is properly credited for their submissions as always).
