I have such a hard time picking favorites, especially when it comes to Sonic. Music tastes especially ebbs and flows based on what mood you are currently in for. But I guess when it comes to a song I find myself playing over, and over, and over again... and most importantly SING over and over again, it has to go to Vandalize.

"But Failin, isn't that cheating? Vandalize wasn't MADE for Sonic, it just got a few radio friendly edits and added into Frontiers!"

It's a powerful song with all kinds of ways to interpret it. People see it as a song sung from Sonic's perspective, others see it like Eggman. Some may see it as a different character in its entirety. There's layers to it.

But it's sung powerfully, an amazingly catchy chorus, and can be equal parts hype, and a bit sad. So it fits all kinds of moods.

Is this recency bias?

Maybe. I dunno. Ask me tomorrow and maybe my favorite song changes. But for now, all I can do is headbang to peak music as I ignore the fact that my bed head is in ruins.

Favorite song? Mechanical Resonance. When I first booted up Sonic Adventure, and played through Amy's route and got to Final Egg, I stayed there for a solid ten minutes just jamming to this masterclass of a track. I'm big on rock n' roll music, and this doesn't disappoint, with a riff so strong I had to play it on my own guitar.

My Favorite Song:

          It's really hard to pick a single favorite Sonic song, but the one I decided to discuss is "The Chosen One" by A2. This song plays for the end credits of semi-hero routes in the Shadow the Hedgehog game. Anyone who's familiar with this game will know that the semi-hero route endings tend to be on the slightly tragic side, with Shadow either choosing to isolate himself on the ARK or coming to the conclusion that his creation was a mistake and that he should never have existed (and leaving the audience with some dark implications of how he chooses to respond to this despair).
          "The Chosen One" captures the dark and tragic nature of those semi-hero endings perfectly. This song is special  because it shows an angle to Shadow that no other song in the Sonic franchise has. While most songs tied to Shadow reflect anger, bravado, or triumph, this song reflects sorrow and regret. The lyrics of the song, which seem to be sung from his perspective, reveal how Shadow feels remorse over what he has become. He apologizes for all the terrible things he has done, realizing that he has fallen short of being the hero he was expected to be. He feels so ashamed of what he has become that he even wishes he had never been born at all, which is pretty heavy for a Sonic game, but he also acknowledges that nonetheless, he must try to fulfill the role of savior of the planet that he has been chosen for. 
          This song stands out to me because it shows this incredibly vulnerable side to Shadow's character that we otherwise almost never see. On the outside, Shadow often appears to be a fierce, proud, even cold person. This song, however, shows that Shadow does have a heart, one that is capable of feelings like remorse and sadness (and not just sadness over Maria I mean). Despite his outward pride and coldness, Shadow does feel a sense of responsibility to humanity and guilt for his past actions, at least in this scenario, which shows what a complex character he could be (at least back in the 2000s). In melody and lyrics alike, "Chosen One" is truly a melancholy piece that shows an anti-hero at his most vulnerable. It's a beautiful, raw song in my opinion and is possibly one of the saddest songs in the entire Sonic franchise.

For the longest time I didn't think I had a favorite Sonic song but I guess as far as vocal tracks are concerned it's probably going to have to be Team Chaotix after all right? That song truly is amazing and every year that goes by I grow more and more appreciative that it even exists at all considering how lackluster their appearances continue to be to the point where Espio and Charmy can't be on a team with their boss in Team Sonic Racing or even get a costume in Speed Battle, a mobile game, of all things. Take what you can get I suppose. I still have the comics... and this song.

Right now though, I think I'm Here - Revisited might be the biggest ear worm that's ever existed for me in recent years with this series. The way the music comes to a head when Eggman lifts up that large ass cannon and fires an overpowered Super-Dee-Duper Sonic through The End and destroys it with Kellin belting out his lungs as hard as he can is heart meltingly wonderful.

As far as stage music goes, my favorite track will always, always be Hang Castle. Until they do another horror themed Sonic stage that's similar or better (not likely) it always will be. Namely because of the way the track sounds when you flip the world upside down. Little kid me bouncing on the bed to the Heroes sound test couldn't get enough. Games need sound tests again.

It's my first time participating in something like this (let me know if I made any mistakes!), but it sounds fun! My favorite song would probably have to be I'm Here - Revisited! It's just such a good track, and the reimagining of what was already a really good song to begin with- Chefs kiss. The vocals are great, the instrumental just as much. It's a newer song compared to most of the more 'iconic' ones, but just as good. And I can't lie, there's some sentimentality attached to it for me, too, since playing Frontiers with friends gave such fond memories :D

Now as for my favorite Sonic song of all time? I always flip between a bunch and as a big shadow fan I would pick I Am All Of Me or Never Turn Back but truly I will always praise Endless Possibility to be the most uplifting and beautiful Sonic song arguably in the whole franchise. Listening to this song and knowing the message always gives me a bittersweet feeling that makes me want to tear up every-time. Hearing this song live was such a genuine experience that I wish I could relive through again, this song is just perfect in every way and I can think of a lot of great songs that rival it, but this one just heavily moves me emotionally the most so how could it not be my favorite (other than all the Kellin Quinn vocal tracks in frontiers). Everytime I hear that opening riff with the drums rolling in, it’s just perfect, fr makes me want to frolic in a field with no care in the world and I think that is something I will always take over any feeling.

My favorite song is currently I'm Here from Sonic Frontiers. The titan fight themes are in this game are all hype, but this one is on another level with how it starts slow and builds up. The progression of "Can you hear the spirits sing" to "Can you hear the spirits SHOUT" is so good, and a good way to tie-in to the story as well.

As for my favorite song... well I've honestly been pondering it for the last couple of weeks and I keep coming back to one. I wouldn't say it's the catchiest the series has to offer nor do I even feel it's the best, but it simply has a special place in my heart.

Back in the early 00s, before I truly got invested into this series, I was a pretty big Bowling for Soup fan. Heard 1985 on Radio Disney once and have been throwing it on randomly ever since lmao. Most of their music is just catchy af to me and really hypes me up.

Fast forward to 2008 and I had just spent pretty much the last year or two getting completely invested into this series. Once I had played Rush I just went all in on the games, shows, anything I could get my hands on. And, of course, I was looking forward to that upcoming game Sonic World Adventure or something idk probably won't think much of it in the years and decade to come definitely not no no

So, E3 hits and I see this video pop up online. Man... life is funny sometimes. Thinking back to it all, it honestly feels made up. How Sega basically made a video so geared directly towards me at the time, it's honestly surreal. Seeing those "Bowling for Soup" credits pop up in the video made something lock in my brain that I don't think has ever moved since. From that point on this series, through the good and the bad, has had me locked in ever since.

Needless to say, I have to give my #1 track spot to Endless Possibility. And I've leave it at that. I feel like I could just write an essay here about how much this song has meant to me over the years if left unchecked.

As for my favorite Sonic song. I don't so much have 'one' favorite, so much as a short list of favorites. So I'll just pick one:

"Windy and Ripply" (Emerald Coast) is a magical track. It's so chill and relaxed and yet so impassioned. The guitar work in this song is incredible. It's so personality filled and playful, yet so earnest. Which for one matter, hits Sonic as a character to a tee, but also helps this song feel so free and cruising. It also perfectly captures the beach feel of the stage. I love that opening to the song, with this mysterious and suspenseful walk-up; but not not like scary suspense, more so anticipation, of what you might see when you round the bend, or crest a hill. Which of course plays well into when it plays, as sonic enters through the cave and has to run out into the open from behind the waterfalls. The calmness of the middle helps sell the confidence Sonic has, and what it encourages the player to adopt as well, as you enter into the second half of the stage. Like, "you got like a minute with the game, you already know what you're doing." It's a subtle encouragement to just press on, but have fun while you're doing it. The synthesizer portion helps keep the whole thing downplayed and adds a sort of innocence to the track that keeps it modest, and well paced. I just love this track. I've spent many an hour with it on loop in the background, and I expect it to color many an hour again in the future.

Favorite Sonic song will always be Escape from the City. I won't ever forget that intense feeling I had as a kid watching my brother and his friend play through the stage with this song playing. I already knew of Sonic at that point but experiencing this likely kickstarted my obsession. I also have a really treasured memory later on with trying to teach a close friend how to A rank the stage. Overall, the song to me is just the essence of Sonic songified!

Hi all! I'll continue the tradition this time yet again by choosing the obligatory Yakuza and Sonic Shuffle tracks.

And for the small write-up: well, I've got more than one favourite to be frank. I suppose I'll just pick one of them; ummmm...

Live And Learn would probably be an easy choice considering I really like how so many of the tracks on the SA2 OST share elements with it without sounding too repetitive which is neat considering how good Live And Learn sounds (guitar work and synth parts are something I really love in songs in general so them being so good in Live And Learn make it nice to listen to). The similarities kind of create connection through the story via the soundtrack and it's kind of cool I think. Said OST has other tracks I really love as well, like Supporting Me, Cannon's Core all versions, Escape from the City, That's the Way I Like It, Won't Stop Just Go, Masters of the Desert etc. tracks. But yeah, Live and Learn is one of my favourites and this was a small thing around it.
