Oof, it's hard to choose a favorite song, especially since I constantly change it.

Right now, I'd probably say Can You Feel the Sunshine, for sure. About 5 years ago I'd say Waking Up, and less than 10 years ago Open Your Heart.

But I think Can You Feel the Sunshine perfectly encapsulates my current life stage. Sonic R is the only Sonic Soundtrack that I bought and keep on my cellphone with my other albums. The song really resonates with me whenever I'm feeling a bit down and reminds me of simpler times of playing Sonic R on Sonic Gems Collection well over 10 years ago. Indirectly, it also shaped my musical taste outside of Sonic, and it's probably the franchise closest to what I listen to.

While I've only participated in one of these in the past, I love these so much! Especially as the music for Sonic is what got me into the franchise to begin with!

So, I'll write down my choices and then explain why a certain song is my favourite.

I couldn't actually include the ultimate Sonic that is my favourite, since Generations console is all stocked up for the regular songs. My favourite Sonic song is Rooftop Run Act 1 from Sonic Generations and there's a reason why.

I mentioned it way back when I joined this site, but I didn't get into Sonic until late 2016/2017 and the main reason for that was that I was watching a top ten video about Sonic music and the number one spot was given to Rooftop Run Act 1, which I had heard in various other videos before it but never actually knew what it was from. When I heard it in that video, I absolutely fell in love with it, so I listened to it for extended periods, actually bought and played Sonic Generations on PS3 and then I got real into Sonic back then for it. If anything, that song is the major reason for why I even touched a Sonic game in the first place, so I dearly love it. (Even if I couldn't include it in here, I'll take listening to Modern's version, since that's pretty good too.)

I've been occasionally checking this forum since the beginning of June to see if there was any word on this year's event starting up, and luckily it seems like I caught it early before a ton of the slots were filled up. I haven't made a wallpaper yet because I just became aware of this year's festivities, but I should have one ready to go within the next few days, a week at most.

What I can put here now is a few of my requests and a question regarding the one I haven't posted about at first:

Favourite Sonic Song is a tie between Mushroom Hill act 1. It brings back many good memories for me as well as being a catchy number that sticks in my head. When I hear it,  I'm back in 1994, Sonic is at its peak in pop culture and I had the game in Sept for my bday- so changes outside with the leaves and seasons were just like in the zone. This was a game I was mega  hyped for to conclude S3, lock on to Sonic 2 and 1 and actually play as Knuckles which was awsome. It just brings back happy memories. Even today if Im driving or walking through falling leaves (I know thats Act 2) this tune pops in my head. Its not the best of the songs in tge franchise....but its my favourite.

It's an "official" remix, as it was in an actual game. Iirc this part of the submission is usually reserved for unofficial, fan-made remixes though @Ryannumber1gamercan definitely correct me if I'm wrong there.

This year's selection noticeably edges towards the newer tracks of the franchise, but do showcase some of the best available options in my opinion. Playing Sonic Adventure 2, both for the online show SCWRM (Swashbuckling Console War Regiment Musketeers), and for a full-on completion run in the 52 Games challenge has definitely reignited a deep respect I have for that soundtrack.

I'd even say that, while as a kid, I loved Open Your Heart more than Live and Learn, I have come to get exactly what the hype of Live and Learn is. And the deeper hidden meanings behind it and its lyrics. I can definitely see why Live and learn garnered the prestige it has amongst the fanbase.
 

That said, my favorite track to come out of this franchise still has to be the GOAT: "Find Your Flame". Find Your Flame is essentially something of a "counter-distrack" to Infinite's theme. It has a lot of what made that theme, only in the opposite direction. Edgy as it may sound, it's still a song that goes for a positive motif. Helping bolster one to triumph, no matter the odds, and no matter what problem they find themselves in. Which is quintessential Sonic if you ask me. Finding the light in even the darkest of times.

I’ve been waiting a long time for this - the first one I experienced was last year not long after I joined the message boards - I can’t wait to find out what everyone else has chosen to showcase for the Year of Shadow!

I tried to choose themes and soundtracks that not only represented my love for the Sonic series and its music, but also reflected this year’s theme of fearlessness, in tandem with the theme of the Year of Shadow. Sonic music has been something that has always been a large part of my life in some way, and to be honest, I personally find it rather difficult to pin down just one song or theme that I would describe as being my favourite amongst all the rest of the great music the franchise has given us. In the past, I have gravitated towards the wide variety of vocal themes, especially those from Crush 40, but I have always also enjoyed Endless Possibility, since the lyrics not only reflects Sonic’s lifestyle perfectly, but they also speak to me personally in the sense that they reflect my own determination to be the best that I can be, and be motivated to achieve my goals in spite of any adversity that may arise to knock me back. However, more recently, I would say that my new favourite is probably Undefeatable from Sonic Frontiers, which… I mean, what else could I say about this song that hasn’t been said by so many others? The intense guitar riffs, the belting vocals, THAT CHORUS - just…

As for my favourite Sonic song... honestly, Escape from the City holds very special memories for me. It's not even what I'd call the all-time greatest Sonic song, and such a title is impossible to pin to any one song, but playing City Escape in Sonic Adventure 2 is a comfortable place for me to return, likely because that was the first time I ever really saw Sonic. I can belt out the lyrics no problem, though it's hard to find a Sonic fan who couldn't.

I have absolutely no idea what my favourite Sonic song is, stop asking me stupid questions. If I absolutely had to say though, I have a soft spot for Live & Learn. To me it's the definitive Super Sonic song and perfectly sums up the plot of Adventure 2. In fact, I have a modded soundtrack for Mania that uses it as the super theme. When I was playing the Adventure Sonic mod for SRB2 and the Sonic Symphony version started playing upon turning into the mod's absolutely overpowered version of Super Sonic, I was so hyped that I started singing along. I vividly remember that my singing embarrassed the dog (who was lying on my floor at the time) to the point that she started looking in the opposite direction to me. And as for why I haven't put it in my request? Well, somebody already has! The best version of the song no less.

My favourite Sonic song (and favourite song overall!) is Live & Learn. Obviously I love the song by itself, but what makes it even more impactful to me is how Sonic Adventure 2 builds up to it being the final boss theme. You hear the intro just opening the Gamecube and Steam versions (and what a fantastic way to introduce the game to new players! When I first played SA2, just hearing the intro got me so excited to play the game, and I'd even sit on the menus just to hear their variations of it, and still do sometimes now), and you hear little references to it throughout the game's levels, hearing it more often the further into the story you get. This all comes together wonderfully in the last story, where you hear the chords at the end of the intro in Cannon's Core ver.1 and ver.3, and the violin plays the whole intro about 52 seconds into Supporting Me, the perfect precursor to Live & Learn. You then hear a variation of the intro as Sonic and Shadow are going super, and then you finally hear it, the full song. All the times you've heard the references to it and the variations of the intro playing on the menus, and you finally hear it. Everything you've accomplished in the game finally pays off in the battle against the Final Hazard, and this song is your reward for making it nearly to the end of the game. And it fits the moment perfectly, encapsulating both the determination that Sonic and Shadow have to save the world so that everybody can live, and all the things that both the characters and you have learnt on this journey.
