Frontiers and Superstars Confirmed To Still Be on The Same Timeline

Earlier, there was an interview with Iizuka that many interpreted as him saying that Frontier and SuperStars were in different dimensions.

It has now come to official attention that this was actually not the case as Iizuka's words were lost-in-translation, with him actually saying that the games take place at different times.

So, to summarize, yes, the "Two Dimensions" shtick is still dead, and these games are still in the same timeline.

We're back to one timeline, FINALLY. God I always hated the weird classic/modern split they tried to do.

So Superstars isn’t the result of Classic Sonic in Gens creating a split timeline due to his knowledge of future events? It’s just a story that took place after the classic games and before Adventure? If that’s the case, I wonder where Mania fits here, since we know for sure that IS Classic sonic from Gens, as forces specifically mentions that

Probably the same. Sonic Racing on the Apple whatever describes Classic Sonic as "a sonic from the past".

I think they've gone all in and completely retconned the branching timeline nonsense, so Mania probably just takes place sometime after 3&K but before Adventure (and maybe even superstars). Everything seems to just be one big timeline now.

Amazing. Back to how it should be.

Lets just pretend most of the narrative of Forces didn’t happen ok. Sonic Team clearly feel the same way now and want to retcon their weird retcon.

It’’s just a crying shame that they had to rope in poor Sonic Mania and use the Phantom Ruby across both games in different ways that were at narrative odds with each other.

Honestly, given how it's only Tails and Eggman who refer to Classic as being from another world or dimension, we can chalk it up to Eggman taking the piss and Tails being coked out of his mind in grief.

Perfect. Absolutely beautiful.

Now I can return to calling Classic Sonic “Classic Young Sonic” with no worries.
