Sonic 2022 teaser compared to previous sonic teasers

So after the Sonic 2022 teaser and the leaks coming I've decided to compared it to past sonic CGI teasers and intros.

This should be interestingScreenshot_20210626-001211.png.45918f9b9ab3b053a228ebbe790e305b.png

Notice the hollow linear path, even tho generations it's more "open" than forces it's still linear lever design, meaning this IS a representation of the game despite being just a CGI animation.

Why I'm I pointing this out? Well in the past we never thought about this stuff before about the teasers ACTUALLY telling us SOMETHING even if it is minor.

I think you're overthinking it. The teaser aimed to show us a mysterious new power and a mysterious new environment. It did that. The Sonic Colors teaser also had Sonic run through a bunch of grass in a forest.

He was also running in a brightly-lit field with happy music and rainbow-colored aliens. This one? Nope. No Classic either.

Ok, but that still doesn't exactly prove anything either. He's running in a forest in a straight line and they showed us a weird new digital effect and a logo. That's what they were telling us. We already know this is an open world game, but to say the trailer was showing that is a stretch.

I'd say that Sonic 2022's teaser trailer is intentionally made to feel somewhat ominous and have a sense of mystery around it. They want us to be asking questions about it so I don't blame people for reading into it lol

It reminds me a lot of the original teaser for Unleashed:

This didn't tell us anything about the gameplay itself but still had that ominous and dark tone that made you wanna know more. I get a similar vibe from 2022's trailer.

This interpretation is possible because in the CGI of Sonic Lost World, we can also see elements of the level design and the gameplay in the background. Sonic Team usually put some elements of the gameplay in the CGI openings or teasers.

Of course, but that was just the art style and aesthetics at the end of the day. If they pulled some similar cinematography for Sonic Unleashed, saying the background means its open world would be false. What I mean is, Sonic Unleashed also has mostly realistic environments, and that doesn't prove that it would be Open World.... in fact, the teaser here has Sonic running through a set path in a forest - yes, we know Sonic Rangers is Open World, but this trailer doesn't tell us that at all.

We aren't trying to prove anything, we are only speculating

It's possible that the teaser teases an open world gameplay because Sonic is running through an open area instead of a linear corridor, in comparison with other CGI teasers and openings from previous games that shows some gameplay elements in the background (Generations and Lost World, for example). It's also possible that this doesn't mean anything and doesn't have anything to do with the actual gameplay. No one is saying this proves the game is open world, but that this could be a possible piece of evidence about how the game will be.

Well I'm allowed to argue, aren't I? Also, he is in fact running through a linear corridor, which is shown especially in the overhead view.

Should I add that they felt they released the teaser too soon and only showed it because of the franchise's 30th anniversary? Or is that not relevant to this discussion?
