The Big Thread of Sonic Glitchiness.

Sonic's games haven't exactly been the most well programmed game series out there, and I'm pretty sure if you looked at a dictionary, you would find a picture of Sonic 06's boxart under the "glitch" section, but that said however, there is plenty of amusing, useful, and downright funny. Glitches have even ended up creating characters in the series, such as a glitch combination between Sonic and Knuckles created Thrash in Archie Sonic. That said however, this thread is dedicated to discussing your favourite glitches in the series, let it be helpful glitches, or amusing glitches.

One rule however

-Please give a 2 sentence minimum for these glitches. This topic needs discussion value and isn't just a simple post your favourite thread. Such as how the glitch happened, or if it's a user done glitch, explain how to do it.

Two glitches I want to mention in particular. One's well known, and the other is one I haven't seen before.

One of my favourite glitches is allowing other characters in Sonic Adventure into levels they aren't allowed into, such as the Tails into Emerald Coast glitch, which is done by finding the correct distance where there's no hitbox for the outside of the hotel from the interior of the hotel, and going into the level transition. If you do it right, you can get behind the transition, and fly straight into Emerald Coast's level loader.

As for the second glitch. This one randomly occurred to me when playing Sonic Adventure 2 on Steam, and...I can't really explain it. You have to see it to believe it.

This has to be my favorite one in the history of glitches. Why? Well lets just say that Silver's ball puzzle section made me want to rip my hair out it was so fustrating and also so poorly set up as well as some times you couldnt get the ball to move where you want it or your powers dont allow you to hit the ball hard and you only had 10 hits.

So instead of waisting 15 minutes to get the ball in, all you have to go is pick up a box, run to the door where the goal is, and you use your powers, while on the box to glitch between the top of the door, making you walk on the top and then fall into the goal room.

Saves time, fustrations and broken controllers. :)

I was practicing for my no death Sonic story run for Sonic '06 and then this happened! I have no clue why.... or even how to be plainly honest. I didn't make the Light Speed Dash, fell down and homing attacked the spring, which launched me into space for some reason. Maybe it's Silver in disguise. Let's just say, it took me quite some time till I got over it because I really did believe I was going to die, which really would have pissed me off xD

Here's an annoying glitch in Sonic Lost World for PC when using the locked 30FPS that's really quite annoying. If you jumping into the golden cannon and automatically run through the stage, you'll manage to get through most of it, until the last part where Sonic just feels like running to the side and then launching himself into the air. Ugh... I tend not to take this route just for that reason.

Oh, interesting thread.

My favourite glitch is definitely speed glitches from Sonic Unleashed that were later implemented of some sort in Sonic Generations. I sometimes even think these particular glitches were created intentionally by the developers, you never know.

I won't be explaining how to do them, I leave these great tutorials instead on how to do them in Sonic Unleashed, but M-Speed and D-Speed can also be done in Sonic Generations with a little effort.

I don't know how to embed videos in this IPB4 forum, so links to videos instead.

Also, I like the glitches that skip a good part of a stage, lately Sonic Lost World has become the game that has a lot of this glitch type. I have recently learnt how to do Desert Ruins 2 and 3 skip. And you feel yourself so accomplished when doing those. I like them.

Desert Ruins 2 skip. Read description of the video to see the explanation of the trick.

Desert Ruins 3 skip. The tutorial is done with commentary, so you'll learn quickly.

On that note, I would like to invite everyone reading this post and interested in Sonic Lost World glitches and speed run in particular to see the AGDQ stream that will be held on 6th of January, the runner DarkspinesSonic will be speedrunning the game on the Wii U system.

I would mention other glitches I like but I don't want this post to be too big. The above mentioned are those that came to my mind immediately.

Too cool, bound to join that stream if I can. And if I can't, I'll watch it on YouTube afterward. DarkispinesSonic is awesome.

Well:

Shadow wants to dive into space (Gwnerations)

This glitch is about Shadow just boosting into a wall. To do this, Shadow need to be powered up. Just boost and slide while he trows the chaos spears. After that, in a short ammount of time, he will start boosting into either the left or right wall. Hell just run in fornt of it. The problem is that you cant win the race.

One of my favourites is in 2006 of course. Well, two of them, but only one of them is useful.

The useless one is flying into space on a rock.

It says it all really. Gets you killed though.

The second is pretty strict in timing to pull off. When you're playing as Knuckles or Rouge and you're gliding towards the ground or the top of a tower or anything where you'll land on the ground and not a wall, you can let go of the jump button to stop gliding and if you do it just as you touch the ground, you will launch vertically high into the air, allowing you to skip huge portions of levels.

Here are a couple of hilarious glitches from Sonic Heroes; four of them showcased by DarkSpinesSonic and one by an underrated LPer, Saestrol.

In both above videos, Big demonstrates his apparent power to defy gravity!

And apparently Big is boneless in the waist... This cat is just full of surprises. (Also Cream's voice in slow mo is terrifying)

Reactions in the video say it all lol

And finally, this wonderful gem of a glitch!
