Sega have announced their line-up for this year’s Tokyo Game Show event in Japan (which includes Team Sonic Racing). Alongside it, they’ve announced a special stage event will be taking place on September 22nd at 15:10-15:40 that will be all about their Sega Ages line-up for the Switch eShop. The stage event promises updates including “major title-related announcements”.
Here’s the full quote regarding the stage event:
A Sega Ages development team discussion with the mysterious, retro game-loving artist MC8bit as a guest. Major title-related announcements are planned. Featuring Kazunari Shimamura (senior producer), Yosuke Okunari (supervisor), Naoki Horii (M2 president), and guest MC8bit.
There’s no guarantee to be any new Sonic titles being announced for the line-up just yet. It is very likely however since not only is Sonic the Hedgehog one of the debut games in the line-up, but the aforementioned game alongside Sonic the Hedgehog 2 were released as part of the line-up’s predecessor; the Sega 3D Classics line-up on 3DS.
As a reminder, here are all six currently announced games so far, with at least 15 total planned down the road Sega confirmed earlier:
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis) – due in September 2018 in Japan
Thunder Force IV (Genesis) – due in September 2018 in Japan
Phantasy Star (Master System) – due in September 2018 in Japan
Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System)
Gain Ground (Arcade)
Space Harrier (Arcade)
All six have pages on the official Japanese website.
