It’s time to usher the past into the future in this enhanced recreation of Sonic CD!

At the end of a long adventure, Sonic travels to the distant shores of Never Lake for the once-a-year appearance of Little Planet – a mysterious world where it is said that past, present, and future collide through the power of the Time Stones that lie hidden within it.

Sonic arrives with a star struck Amy Rose in tow only to find the once beautiful world chained and imprisoned beneath a twisted metallic shell. Sonic’s nemesis, Dr. Eggman (a.k.a Dr. Robotnik), has come for the Time Stones and with them, will soon have the power to control time itself!

The fate of the world is determined by the choices you make throughout your adventure! Fight through the past, recover the Time Stones, and defeat the evil Metal Sonic in order to save the future from Dr. Eggman’s nefarious schemes!

    1. I thought the PC version’s Steam achievements were already confirmed? SEGA often uses Steam for PC digital distribution, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they released the PC version on Steam.

      1. Don’t think so. Every developer (besides EA) uses Steam for PC digital distribution. Steamworks means that the game will have achievements and possibly Steam Cloud support. Most games that use Steamworks also require you to have Steam installed to play the game.

      1. basically, it would be the August UK Riots all over again, if so, then QUICK! TO THE SONIC BUNKER! *hides in here* *hangs a sign saying “Playing HALO”* wanna come? we got BUNGiE steaks and sonic generations Press Kit photos

          1. Haha! That’s true! 🙂 But I wonder if the intros will play ‘Sonic Boom’ or ‘Toot Toot Sonic Warrior’? Like, will Sonic Boom be USA only like before? I personally prefer SB over TTSW, but I live in Australia… O_o Don’t know if my version would have it! If it did, I can imagine myself on my iPhone, on a bus, yelling “If you’re strong you can FLYYYY!!” xD

  1. Really REALLY hoping that this doesn’t require iOS 4.0. It would suck to leave those with older devices in the dust. SASASR doesn’t have OS restrictions, so I have some hope.

  2. Requiring iOS 4.0 wouldn’t be SEGAs fault, but it would suck anyway. This version will eliminate my biggest problem with the game, the collision detection. Then collision chaos might actually be FUN.

  3. I think ‘popular demand’ would’ve dictated that both soundtracks be included.

Though I’m biased towards the US soundtrack, I’m still alright with the international one, I just would’ve enjoyed the option.

    1. I’m partial to the US soundtrack as well, but SEGA said they’re having trouble getting the licensing rights from the original artist, and that when it happens, they may offer it as DLC. Here’s hoping.

  4. Sorry, I found the headline “New Sonic CD Screenshots” funny for some reason.
I’ve played this so many times and it’s still awesome.

  5. By popular demand…? Bah.. I’m not sure how much I buy into this ‘legal situation’ with the US soundtrack. If they have the audacity to charge for it as DLC, I’m going to be furious.

    1. Wasn’t legal and licensing issues their excuse for not including the international soundtrack on the Sonic Gems Collection version? I remember being gutted since their localization since Sonic Jam has been rather poor with collection sets, just using the USA versions of the games and doing quick PC version ports rather than putting in any extra effort. Needless to say I’m impressed and really happy about this “new” Sega that’s giving it their all now and looking after their mascot again and treating their products with respect and care 😀

They aren’t Capcom, if they sort out the issues I’m sure you will get the other soundtrack as an update for free.

  6. I think fans all over the world just celebrated. Many petitioned to get back the JP version of the OST within the game.
Wow, that’s some nice news to read today. Plus seeing Sonic CD in a new way is great too. =D

  7. it’d be cool if nintendo got rid of the 40mb download size. I emailed them about that. the person said that they wouldnt know if they would change that or not

  8. No US soundtrack? I’m a sad panda.
Don’t really get the love for the JP soundtrack but hey taste is taste.
