One Man Band Plays Sonic Music, Wears Spongebob On Head

YouTube user SongeLeReveur is a veritable prodigy if I ever saw one. Not content with learning to play bass guitar, acoustic guitar, bongos and a freaking ocarina (among others), he proceeded to don a doll of Spongebob Squarepants and splice footage of all four five into an awesome mediterranean take on Marble Zone‘s theme from the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

His latest variation on a Sonic theme is a jazzy rendition of a forgotten classic, Sky High Zone from the Master System and Game Gear version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

SongeLeReveur’s done a number of other Sonic tracks, along with other series such as Final Fantasy, and film/TV classics such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Back to the Future. But you’ll just have to go find them yourself, wun’cha sunshine?

Someone sign this guy.

Ian, aka "bmn", is the guy that keeps TSS up and running. If something goes wrong, you know who to blame call. When he's not stealing about making invisible changes, he writes in an attempt to justify his existence. Poor guy...

  1. Ha, Blitzchris linked me to this guy the other day while discussing remixes. Again, think this is another fantastic case highlighting the many voices of the Master system soundtrack once you take it out of the 8-bit context, off the soundchip and to another medium.

Bloody hang glider bit though. Damn that was a hard chaos emerald to get.

  2. It looks like the GG and MS versions of Sonic 2 rehashed the music for Marble Zone in Sonic 1 for Sky High Zone. Cool remix.

  3. Thanks for the scoop BMN…!

I think you’ve inspired me to do conduct an interview with this dude somewhere down the track. What a genius this guy is with music! I’ll have to contact him after I come back from my trip to Bali in a week’s time.

  4. Elson, Songe’s native language is french.. Believe me…we tried to get him onto the show in the past πŸ˜€

PS: I swear… πŸ˜› If you steal any more remixers for your show, i’m pretty sure im gonna have to come over and “sort” you out! πŸ˜€

  5. Wait you did? TBH I can’t remember ever remembering to listen to BnP -_-

That said, I forget about TSH and TRZ a lot of the time, and I always listen to those when I can. >_> I should really set my alarm for BnP tho.

But nah, I discovered SLR through YT’s “Recommended For You” feature about 6-7 weeks ago. Just never really occurred to me to post about it myself, was going to tell Brad when he got back in the hope that he’d do the work for me. ;p

  6. @ BlitzChris – LOL! Alright I’ll be a good boy and stop interview Sonic music inspired remixers out there in the fandom… XXD

So Songe’s French huh? I’m assuming he has limited English, but who knows I’ll have to ask him anyway – it doesn’t hurt to try again. πŸ˜‰

I was going to call you this morning – I wanted to talk to you about the possibility of me purchasing a proper keyboard synthesizer from Kosmic (I need your advice!). I’m inspired to make music sometime down the track as part of my additional list of reacreational activities/hobbies. Speak to you next time dude. *thumbs up*

  7. O.o WOW! That boy’s got epic remixin’ TALENT!!! Wish I had him for my Sonic MMORPG Project….

  8. Just subscribed to this guy. He’s done some really awesome stuff. Hope he puts his stuff up for download at some point.
