Box art released for SEGA ASR: Banjo and Kazooie confirmed!

Seems the cover art TSS posted a few weeks ago was right on the money: not only was it the final cover art most versions of the game, but Rare’s legendary platforming (and driving) duo, Banjo and Kazooie, are in!

SEGA has just now released cover art for all versions of the game, and the 360 version has something special:

No word yet on how this effects the 360 version’s roster, though it’s worth noting that no other versions of the game have an exclusive character featured. You can see the rest of the covers on the game’s page. This is more then likely the big ASR announcement SUMO was talking about, though nothing has been confirmed.

Special thanks goes to Shadi Wulf for bringing this to my attention.

  1. Kinda takes away from the fun of having them in the game by putting them ON THE COVER as if they’re the main attraction. And I thought the lame title of Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing was lame, but now it’s Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing with Banjo-Kazooie, cant they just call it Sega All Stars Racing? That’s like Madagascar Kartz, that should’ve just been Madagaskartz.

  2. @Kail: Well that’s Rare for ya. Always emphasizing and that’s what makes them great. And I see nothing wrong with the title. It’s Sonic (the mascot), as well as Sega All Stars, and they’re racing! Calling it something like Sega All Stars Kart would be coping Mario Kart. But the name doesn’t matter at this moment… BANJO & KAZOOIE ARE IN SEGA GAME!!!! YIPPIE!!!! ALL RARE FANS REJOICE!!!!

  3. @Kail and Hudson: Actually, it should’ve been Sega Superstars Racing. Sonic & Sega All-Stars doesn’t flow as well, and adding “with Banjo-Kazooie” to the title makes the problem worse.

    Madagaskartz 🙂

  4. There’s still a chance Mario is in the Wii version, the chance is slightly lower thou I suppose without the plumber on the cover..
But if there are format exclusive characters, it would be the second (?) time anyones ever gone to that trouble. (Soul Calibur Star Wars characters)
Maybe there’s too much Nintendo VS Rare’s Microsoft buyout conflict for the developers to come to any kind of … settlement?

*Every time someone says Sonic Adventure 2 was good, all Sonic players worldwide are disconnected from their online Smash Bros Brawl game*

  5. I don’t understand what those two have to do with Sega or Sega’s agenda. Whatever. Was so not looking forward to this game, anyways.

  6. Heck yeah!!My other two nostalgic video game characters. I’m not sure why sega decided on this though, but still awesome.

  7. look, I don’t give a rat’s golden ass about Banjo or Kazooie, I just want NiGHTS, goddammit!!!

    B&J aren’t even from SEGA… I’m a little pissed off now. ]:(

  8. The name was totally just so it would sell better. With Sega Superstars Tennis, it was not officially a Sonic title, even though he was the main character. So the Sonic fanbase was not automatically obligated to buy it. For this one, they purposely put Sonic’s name in the title so we the fans have no choice, but to add it to our collections.
