SuperSonic

  • Artist: H.W.A. featuring Sonic the Hedgehog / Wayne Brown
  • Release: 1992
  • Origin: United Kingdom
  • Label: Zomba Records Ltd
Information

Coming in CD, cassette and vinyl flavours, this techno remix is as cheesy as they come. Bear in mind though that this single was a product of the early 1990s, so of course it fit right into the tastes of the public at the time. SuperSonic focuses on sampling the Green Hill Zone theme from the original Sonic the Hedgehog, while providing the sort of shrills and be-bopping you’d find in a 2 Unlimited song.

The single was released with charity in mind – all proceeds from the SuperSonic record were donated by Sega to the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre, an organisation that helps children with learning disabilities communicate through music.

Wayne Brown is credited as the performer and composer of the song, but curiously the writer is ‘unknown’. Could it have been Sonic himself?
