Sonic Colours: Get Ready For Take Off!

[ The Basics | Buy Colours | More Info ]

Seems like only yesterday we found out about this new Wii exclusive Sonic title, huh? From behind the coat tails of Sonic 4, Sonic Colours has become one of the most genuinely anticipated Sonic titles in recent years. Even Brad’s optimistic about it.

Even more incredible, it hasn’t fallen victim to the insider leaks that have plagued almost every Sonic game in the last five years. Can this game do no wrong?!

Now the wait’s almost over, so here’s the 411 on the release of the game it’s looking like every Wii owner needs to get their hands on.

The Basics

Sonic Colours – like a couple of other games I won’t name – is set on a series of planets in outer space. Dr Eggman has taken over and subjugated the resident alien race, and is turning the planets into his own intergalactic theme park. Coincidence of coincidences, Sonic appears to save the day. The aliens – called Wisps, but we’ll just stick with aliens if that’s OK with everybody – just happen to give Sonic gimmicky powers that actually seem pretty cool for once.

Colours comes in two varieties. The Nintendo Wii version, developed by Sonic Team, is built on Sonic Unleashed’s Daytime game engine, coupled with a healthy dose of hindsight about what made that game good and bad. The Nintendo DS version is developed by handheld Sonic longstays Dimps, and runs on a modified Sonic Rush engine.
