It's not using the hedgheog engine, its a Sumo Digital engine.

Also, this is what it will look like on Wii, notice the lack of draw distance and horrible textures

It's at 720p... it wont look nowhere near as good in the Wii version

You really love seriously underestimating the Wii's capabilities, don't you? Then again, I wouldn't be surprised, considering your blatant anti-Wii bias. I find your attempts amusing.

I really think that this is an enormous stretch- a lot of games pull of shadowing effects like this.

Well, Global Illumination is a recent lighting style, but games have recently accomplished real-time GI, such as Capcom's Dark Void... And a particular fan-game over at SFGHQ, Sonic Attitude. Funny about that... More evidence for the "Hedgehog Engine is a bunch of smoke and mirrors" argument. I mean, I can run the Lightsmark GI demo on my laptop, and it's pretty shit even compared to a Wii.

Running a GI demo is different than running a game that uses it on a very large scale. Also, the Hedgehog Engine does a lot more than just GI, but I'll save that for another time.

OMG!!!! Hype x1000

Wow - I'm being stalked on Neogaf

On the name, guess what, the working title we had was Sega Superstars Racing.

Hopefully you'll guys will love this one. Think OutRun crossed with SST - and you're starting to get the right idea. All being well it should be playable on the showfloor - well a fraction of the game will be, we've got a lot of good stuff we've got to keep under wraps or Sega's marketing will kill us!

If I spot any good previews I'll pop back and point them out, but right now we've got to keep shush so we don't ruin anything

You said:

Nintendo isn't helping the Wii, they are helping kill it in the long run ;) fine by me :)

Basically, this resulted in WTF reactions from me and Ashurbanipal. One of the annoying things about the internet? It's really bloody hard to tell if someone is, say, being sarcastic sometimes, though pure text, don't you agree?

I haven't played Outrun, I've heard good things about it, but I hear that the XBLA port isn't that good.

Well i was being half serious =P If they don't show off any hardcore games they are killing the wii for hardcore gamers

and as for outrun... ITS GREAT! and the XBLA port is great too! It's just not the full game.

OUTRUN XBLA:

WATCH IT! it's wonderful

Well, I've already made the point that their "core" output on the Wii has already topped the Gamecube's entire lifetime already (that, and they're incredibly secretive about their projects), but that's for another topic.

I've seen footage of Outrun on Good Game, and I'd watch the footage if my internet wasn't totally shit. Looks pretty sweet, and drift-centric, from what I hear.

hehe yeah, heres a full level video of the easy session for anyone interested

I love how the traffic that included various RV's and minivans was shown pulling 200 mph easy.

That at least shows that a solid Arcade racer is certainly up their alley so the transition to frantic kart shouldn't be to much to ask of them.

I really don't mind Sonic having a race cart game. I think it's awesome especially since they hope to put more emphasis on other Sega Characters( COME ON SHEMUE!).

Wow. If this game is going to be that fast, we've certainaly got a Mario Kart rival! That's the one thing I feel MK lacks - enough speed. I suppose It also is befitting, seeing as Sonic's in it. Maybe it's also a saving grace for those who can't stand to see Sonic in a car. (which is stupid because it's a RACING GAME people. How do you think AiAi would catch up with Sonic on foot?)

I really hope Ulala's in it. There's a good chance seeing as she's been in every game in the Sega Superstars series. A SC5 themed level would be nice to!

'Everybody's Super Sonic Racing' better be the theme of the last race. (and for the love of all things Sonic; no Heroes music like in Superstars Tennis! They had the WHOLE of Sonic 06's beautiful soundtrack to choose from and they choose Heroes?!)

I think it would be cool if everyone was in a themed vehicle. Like, Sonic in his red car from drift, AiAi in a monkey ball, NiGHTS...um...turning into a car.

I don't feel like explaining it right now, but this game is clearly not running on the Hedgehog engine.

Running a GI demo is different than running a game that uses it on a very large scale. Also, the Hedgehog Engine does a lot more than just GI, but I'll save that for another time.

Yeah, the HE's GI effect isn't that impressive compared to it's motion blur and data streaming capabilities, but that Lightsmark demo's engine is being used in Mafia 2.

I love how the traffic that included various RV's and minivans was shown pulling 200 mph easy.

That's what makes it awesome.

I'm excited about this.

So what if Sonic is in a car? It's a cool one, and it's not the first time we saw that. I love his Sonic Drift artworks.

Reasons for me to get a PS3 or a Wii keep coming and coming.

BTW, I got a PS2 on my birthday. Sorry for the late update, guys. I'll say something more about it in a month or so after I'm less busy.

EDIT: The trailer, as it's no news from SEGA, rocks. :D

I hope that wasn't (in part) directed at me.

More the Youtube user who did a whole rant on it =/

This looks pretty sweet man. Eggman's special move should be throwing random pieces of old bosses and badniks at enemies. Also, Sonic's car is shiny. @_@

I just really hope they give Shining Force some love. A Domingo item or a Jogurt joke character would be nice.

Of course, SA2's racing bit was shit, completely awful, so let's hope that's the only comparison that can be drawn.

Remember he technically did the music for Tennis and all he composed was a main theme. The rest was just reworking old SEGA tracks into surround sound.

I really hope the soundtrack is actually remixes this time instead of just reusing existing tunes.

Even though it's less heard of than most Sonic soundtracks, a more pumped up Sonic 3D Saturn/PC Green Grove would be pretty epic for that Sonic course we're seeing.

Oh, and obviously an unlockable Super Sonic Racing or Can You Feel The Sunshine? for the lulz. Come on Richard, you must.

This is a SEGA game, S0L confirmed the name was originally SEGA Superstars Racing, but it looks like SEGA changed the name and added Sonic to the title so it will sell more.

so i doubt there will be Black doom or any of those retarded characters.

Great to hear Jaques is back. On the Sonic side, wouldn't it be cool if they had Black Knight stuff since Richard jaques did some of the music? A man can dream though.

Hmmm. Maybe he could remix some of the classic SEGA tunes like House of the Dead stuff or Nights.

wait thats a good point by me. Where is the Nightmaren? we always see him/her at the drop of a hat.
