Lupe looks really cool. I really like her design, hope she sticks around.
Same here. Even though all of the designs have to look Sega-y now, it’s still interesting to see the design choices that go into that kind of restructuring. Also, it’s nice to keep getting exposed to who stuck around after the initial Super Genesis wave. I really hope that one day we’ll get to finally see Scourge, Fiona, the Destructix, Doctor Finitevus, and Thrash again some day, as well as Zonic and the rest of the Zone Cop Corps, I REALLY wanted to see where they were going to go with that storyline, as well as what’s going to become of Doctor Eggman Nega now that we know he’s still part of this universe too. I guess each new storyline is dedicated to reintroducing more and more characters until the universe has essentially rebuilt itself from the ground up, so hopefully we’ll get to see more of the fan favorites coming back. Hopefully none of them fall under Penders’ jurisdiction and if they do, hopefully Sega and Archie won’t try to maintain their pride by not asking him for permission, cause that’s what bugs me the most. Hope to see more Archie awesomeness as the years go by!
Agreed! I always thought Lupe and the Wolfpack were Pender’s.
Also I’m dying to see where all this build-up to Eggman Nega is heading, it’d been teased dozens of times since Blaze first appearance in the comics and more prominently in Treasure Team Tango, also I hope they give Blaze her rightfuk place in the story since Eggman Nega is her archenemy.
Lupe is from the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, no way she would be Penders. It’s the rest of the pack that he created, if not based on the ones she had in the cartoon.
Lupe’s height was for a reason. She’s an adult, as well as a bigger species (and so is Vector, and Bark, and Storm). Here, she just looks like a kid. But I guess Vanilla should be the same height as her own daughter….
Makes me wonder what Flynn will do to Dulcy.
Also, MOAR SILVER STORIES, YYYYUUUUUSSSSSH!!!!! GIVE ME MOAR SILVER! GIVE ME MOAR BLAZE!! GIVE ME SILVER AND BLAZE!…eventually! \O3O/
Lupe, what have they done to you?
She looks much better in my opinion.
mine too
Same here.
You’re just saying that for the sake of the reboot. How!?
Not everything in this comic is praiseworthy. Ian Flynn may be a far better writer and has given is some decent material (compared to a certain “unrelated comic” that hasn’t gotten off the ground), but he is not Jesus Christ.
No, we aren’t. We genuinely like the redesign. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean no one else should. I personally love the new style overall since it’s a bit closer to the game style (which I loved since I was a little kid) but it retains the larger amounts of detail (clothing, markings etc.) the comics are known for which I also love.
Going with what you just said, the opposite is also true. Just because it’s from the reboot doesn’t automatically make it bad.
Honestly my only complaint is that her face looks a bit like a copy/paste of Sallys and Sonic, in the second image, looks like Classic Sonic for some reason.
Lupe’s height was for a reason. She’s an adult, as well as a bigger species (and so is Vector, and Bark, and Storm). Here, she just looks like a kid. But I guess Vanilla should be the same height as her own daughter….

I meant to post this here.
She only looks short because of the poses here, she’s hunched over in both images and in one, she’s also far in the background which makes her appear small. Vector and Bark are still gigantic and I believe we haven’t seen Storm yet since the reboot.
Besides, this is a new continuity, maybe Lupe is supposed to be younger in this world? We don’t know yet, this is her first appearance since the reboot.
Also, the reasons you gave are the reasons YOU dislike the redesign, not the reasons the design is objectively bad or why no one else should like her. of course you’re entitled to your opinion, just don’t behave like no one else can POSSIBLY or should have a different one from you.
Well maybe I’d be more considerate if the opinions were more detailed and reasonable, instead of “it’s new and not Penders, so it’s awesome”.
There was nothing wrong with Lupe’s height, not even in the original SatAM cartoon. But I guess characters like Drago, Sleuth Doggy Dawg, and the rest of the pack killed it for everyone.
Woah, the art book sounds like a really cool idea!Even though the art quality of the comic has jumped up and down over the years, it’s awesome to see them take a step back and have some of the artists talk about their process.Looking forward to seeing a full list of the artists who will be featured in it.
That $40 price tag seems pretty average for an art book, and with the increase in paper and print quality for this one, it makes sense to me.I wonder how many pages it’ll have though?
I like the idea of a good quality artbook as there’s been a lot of great art the comic has produced.
Hm… So are they going to cover a slightly more touchy subject in the form of schizophrenia? Or will it just come down to some being calling on Silver or something. I’d kinda like to see them cover some deeper and more touchy (yet interesting) subjects like mental problems though, as long as they don’t balls it up and cause offence.
Also I’d love to get hold of that artbook, maybe I will when someone sells it on Amazon later like with the Archie Archives or if Waterstones will be so kind as to import it for me. I’m trying to improve my own art skills, especially the more cartoony side, so it would be a great help for me to see their process like that.
“It’s Sonic—UNLEASHED!”
God freakin’ damnit, Archie.
