No, actually many people considered Heroes the start of it, after 06 people just tried to find something to complain about, so they picked 3d for no good reason (count, there are more good 3d Sonic games then there are good classic games 5 (3d) to 4(2d)!!, and I only counted 3d, not modern in general).
