New Screens of That One Awesome Fan Game

You remember the above screenshot and this video from back in March, don’t you?  It made everybody go “ooooooommmmmmggggggg.”  Continuing of the recent trend of ridiculously awesome fan projects, this still unnamed, 2.5D adventure just got an update today in the form of new screenshots.

The creator, Sonic Retro’s pelikan13, says that he is looking for a composer for his Unity-based Sonic project.  If you’re up to the task, inquire at the appropriate Sonic Retro thread.  For the rest of us, gawk at these two screenshots (click for the full res versions):

For those of you who are wondering about how this game plays, pelikan13 went on the record to say that Retro member Mercury, the creator of the incredibly helpful and accurate Sonic Physics Guide, is behind the gameplay for this game.  Mercury’s physics prowess was also adapted to another fan game this year in the popular Sonic CD homage Sonic: Time Twisted.  I have embedded a video of his Game Maker engine below.

  4. Love the 2. screen.
It isn’t so “too much” like it was before.
    Gotta love that artstyle.

  5. This guy should work with the guy who made that 2.5d Mushroom Hill remake!

  6. Amazing! This is just as good as the Mushroom Hill video! I’m just really curious about that giant robot from Sonic 2 in the background of the 2nd picture.

  7. WWHHAAATT TTHHE IF SEGA SEE THIS THEN TEY LET HEM WORK BY SEGA I WANT WORK BY SEGA TO BUT THIS IS WOW

  10. Oh. Wow. Ohhhh, WOW. This is simply beautiful. So vibrant and colorful, I cannot believe this is a fangame. And I thought Sonic 4 looked amazing. Hopefully the gameplay for this will be as good as it’s appearance, because this is simply stunning.

  11. That is certainly top notch! I vaguely remember the screenshot though. I look forward to seeing/hearing more about this fangame.

  12. Inferno the Fox says:

I’m using Unity for most of my projects too, but I can’t get it to work, so I need this guys help!!

  13. …….holy crap!!! pelikan13, i will BUY this game from u!!

  14. I like the graphics, but the background needs a little blur effect, sonic and the background merge in the human eye.

  15. Now when everybody was going about hiring the guy who did the fancy pre-rendered video, I will go on about saying to hire /this/ guy. Okay? Probably because he’s actually working on a /game/.

  16. wow, missed this one first time round, i love the 3D render of the Giant Mech from Sonic 2 there.
my only issue is that it looks slightly cluttered, possibly because of the grass?

  17. GOTY lol

  18. You want music, i know the perfect guy for this game.

    Tryezz.

  19. I have Unity installed… but can’t get my ass in gear to do anything… :S

    This is inspiring stuff.

  20. SO….. MUCH…. WIN!

    *goes to change pants*

    *comes back*

I’m going to guess that dust trail will not be present un dust-less levels right?

  21. rhonddaboy13 says:

what is with the giant robotnik robot in the background of the first image

  22. It’s too pretty; not enough focus on Sonic. While I don’t deny that it looks DAMN good for a fan project, it’s just too much distraction from Sonic himself and I would have trouble if this was a game on a playable build.

  23. @_@ dammnn its seems like the fans can provide us awesome sonic games than SEGA thats pretty sad really

  24. Wow! And a nice Sonic model!

  25. i swear if this demo is as awesome as it looks and as promising as it is, i’ll donate to this guy without a second thought just for a freaking job well done!

  26. this looks really sweet :) I”ll definatly give this a whirl when it’s avalable.
