I found myself in a Sonic Advance 2 mood today and was happily reminded that its soundtrack is phenomenal. It’s one of the few soundtracks from recent Sonic games where the melody manages to land in my head and stay there. Also, it suits the frenetic pace that the game sports. Let’s share some remixes, because I feel like it.
GeckoYamori’s Genesis mixes have been featured before, but he has got plenty more. Check out his Genesis cover of Leaf Forest Zone:
Hot Crater’s melody is awesome. I went looking for a remix that really ripped it up on guitar, but all I found were a bunch of synths. Out of the ones I found, I liked this one the best:
Eventually, I did find one with a “guitar” lead at Newgrounds. Check out this one by BeatDarkX.
Why this post exists in the first place is that I’ve only been able to find only three good remixes between places like OCRemix, VGMix, Newgrounds and YouTube. I want some more! Give me your Sonic Advance 2 remixes, knuckleheads. A Music Plant Zone remix gets you bonus points on the imaginary Sonic Stadium ScoreTron 5000.
Hold right to win.

Yeah these are some sweet remixes.
However Sonic Advance 2 is awful.
I can level with you there, personguy. I don’t know why I felt like playing it.
I honestly say Advance 3 is the best and has better music, but Advance 2 still has great music.
@SonicSilverSS
It sure does but Advance 1 has both good game play and good music.
Just a moment ago, i came here after listening to that 16-bit cover of leaf forest, what a coincidence! Really both of those remixes sound amazing!
Now that I look around some more, remixes of songs from all three Advance games are hard to come by. Good ones, that is.
Man, I want somebody to do a lounge version of Secret Base Zone from the first game. Aaaah, that song totally rules.
@Brad Flick: It might just be because the Advance series wasn’t all that popular. You might be able to find something on OCRemix.
Nice remixes
Although I can’t stand Sonic Advance 2. I got the game over 7 years ago and I still haven’t beaten it yet….. -_-;
I actually really enjoyed Sonic Advance 2… I blame the Chao Garden.
But these remixes are wonderful.
I’m at work atm, but when I get home I’ll link you to as many SA2 remixes I can find
These are really awesome! Just more inspiration for my Sonic medley for Project 20!
The guitar mix of hot crater was really awesome, it sounds a lot more like an Adventure 2 song when it’s an octave lower than the original version.
@ Brad Flick
As a keyboard player that loves to learn new Sonic tunes I’ll see what I can do with Hidden Base zone. Just describe what you want in the lounge arrangement and I’ll try to learn it as fast as I can. (I have to learn by ear or it’s just not fun.)
Well it’s good to see I’m not the only one who appreciates the Advanced series. All 3 were incredible and had great music.
Sweet!
hey, does anyone know how to make genesis type sonic sounding music like the 16 bit song above?
“Hold right to win”
Hey, it’s not nearly as bad as Limbo’s “Press X to not die”..
@Mr. Mackey
I beat this game with all charecters and 7 Chaos Emerelds and with the last charecter ( Amy) in few days!
This game is one of my favorite sonic games ever! I didnt like advance 1 or 3 so much! but still good series!
The Genesis soundchip can never go wrong in my ears, it blessed my childhood ears so many times it just can’t happen. That Leaf Forest version was great to hear.
Sonic Advance 2 had one very big problem: the special stage requirement was the most retarded in any Sonic game ever. It was the only time had to get a FAQ to do it. And i did…. 4 times… :S
I think my first Sonic game I bought was Sonic Advance 3, so I’m a fan of the advance trilogy.
Sonic advance 2 is cool, But my friend and I still havn’t gotten all the chaos emeralds.
Seriously, you have to collect 7 medals randomly scattered throughout the stage to get to the special stage?!
WTF SEGA?!
Although, I do like just running through the game and hearing the awesome soundtrack…
This stuff brings back memories. Thanks Brad.
*Turns on VisualBoyAdvance and plays Sonic Advance 2*
I can’t hold right any longer, it’s too much! D:
I really love the Leaf Forest one. I love it so much that I’d marry it, have children, and raise a family of tiny little remixes.
Sonic Advance 2 wasn’t terrible, just not very creative, level design wise. Though those special stage rings were the worst idea to ever be a worst idea.
The music was always great, though.
I personally really enjoyed this game, it being the the first sonic game ever to enter my house. Its what got me into the sonic series and I will love it forever!
Although the weakest of the 3 advance games, gameplay-wise, the soundtrack was awesome, and I wish there could be more remixes of it. Music Plant? Anyone?
I was really praying for Music Plant when I saw the article’s title, but these remixes are so good, I’m not too upset.
The Hot Crater one is fantastic!
Some very good remixes there.
That’s the second Gecko remix I’ve heard (after the Splash Hill one) that is very bouncy and almost kinda Carnival Night/Balloon Park in its instrumentation.
Hot Crater one is nice.
I love all Advance 1,2 and 3, I beat them all and got the chaos emeralds in every single one of them with all characters.
These are great remixes especially the Hot Crator one which was excellant and really catchy. I really want to download the latter so do you know if the creator has a download link?
My verdict on Sonic Advance 2? I think it was a decent game, not bad but it was easily the worst of the series. It suffered from loose character control, a camera that couldn’t keep up with the characters at all which considering they are already too fast to begin with leads to enemy collision and death. The enemy placement was bad as it was but combined with the camera and character speed led to to numerous problems. Not to mention that the idea of collecting scattered special rings was grating as they all had to be collected at once during a playthrough to gain special stage access.
Despite the jarring flaws it was still enjoyable with decent music, quirky level design and the concept of chasing after the boss while fighting him was a more kinetic experience.
