Why the hell can’t people take a break from 06? I can’t stand to see my favorite game bashed in every news article on this site. It makes me not want to visit this site. I hate Fluffy Kitten News with a passion but at least my favorite game isn’t constantly bashed by the guy that runs the site… Seriously, stop, it’s not funny when my favorite game is bashed by my favorite website. I know it’s all subjective to opinion, but it’s very unprofessional for you “journalists” to do that.

I see nothing on this article that bashes Sonic 06. It’s a Sonic the Hedgehog trashcan. Nothing implies that the caption is aimed at Sonic 06. Even if it is, this is not a NEWS site. This is more like a blog, where opinionated posts should not be taken offense to. The site has news, but they have even said, somewhere, something along the lines of, “This site is not for just news, this is simply a Sonic community website”. I don’t remember the exact words. It was more than 3 months ago. Maybe even six months.

okay why is the garbage can relevant to Sonic 06? I know that Sonic 06 is a bad Sonic game, but i see no relevance at all. The only relevance that i see is what Sonic is saying on that can and it is relevant to the “Sonic Says” segment from AoStH.
I finally got Sonic 06 and although I played it breifly when I was working at gamestation, this is my first proper go at it. And I have to say that although it certainly has flaws, and a few cringe worthy moments, I’m enjoying the game, and I certainly don’t think it deserves the bashing it gets. My only major problem is no Japanese language option, I can’t stand those american dubs.

I did like Sonic 06…that is until Sonic Unleashed came out and proved to me all the bug and stuff in 06. Its not a terrible game, but it could have been way better.
For the record, I get enjoyment out of 06. Especially the downloadable content levels. I thought those were pretty well done. Only thing about 06 that truly upsets me is that you get knocked down just by tapping a wall. But other than that, it’s pretty legit.

Actually, the lack of proper control in the mach speed sections is a minor annoyance when compared to the bugs and blandness that plague everything else in the game…
But I liked the soundtrack, though… Kingdom Valley as Sonic play very nicely… and, uh… give me a break, it’ll take half an hour until I remember something else i like about StH ’06. Sad, isn’t it?
The image made me laugh, the flame war made me facepalm, the references to interspecies relationships made me sad. All in all a very emotional image post for me.
This is from SEGA WORLD in Bournemouth I believe. The cans are actually Pepsi-Cola themed trash cans, hence the ring pull-esque deposit slot, but with a Sonic insert instead of the Pepsi-Cola design.
Well 06 does have it’s flaws, but I managed to enjoy what I could of it. It wouldn’t be shat on so much if it wasn’t rushed. I don’t care of people bash it, I’m used to it.

It is a very nice garbage can. Notice, Sonic is throwing away a red can that says “Cola” perhaps it is a reference to “cocacola” and Sonic is throwing it away because it is a pepsi ad. thus pepsi is saying coke is garbage. Another attack in the coke/pepsi war. Sonic has taken his side.
Edge : What I`m really sick of is almost ever video game site ripping on Sonic just because he had a few bad game jesus will they ever shut up the whole sonic fanbase already knows that Sonic had some bad games they don`t need to tells us a million times over & over & over & over again it makes me sick
@ Edge: This is the community blog section not the news section, so journalism doesn’t apply to this portion of the site. The writers are allowed to be a bit more personal and open in this section. If Brad doesn’t like Sonic ’06 then he doesn’t like it, that’s his oppinion and if it’s one of your favourite games that’s cool and we respect that.
The only reason people don’t like it is because it has some glitches and long loading screens. Of course if you let loading screens and a cutscene ruin you’re fun then it’s pretty sad and you don’t deserve to play the game

I can’t recall a single article in the news section, community blog section or articles section taking a stab at Sonic ’06 for months. We only post humor in the Community Blog section anyway where the writer is allowed to have an oppinion on something, I don’t post hate about games myself anywhere on the site but thats just me and I have no problem with the other staff doing it. In the news section our oppinion stays out of the posts.
As for the comments section, that’s not our problem as that’s the public. If the public don’t like a game then that’s not out fault now is it? We can’t just delete peoples comments because they don’t like a game, everyone is entitled to their oppinion.
I’ll be honest myself, I love Sonic 06, too. So, really…06 doesn’t have a ‘small minority’, it has a decent fanbase, but the hate of it overcedes the love to it. I will admit that it’s not finished, and glitchy, but it’s still a fun time. Besides…as I always say, blame Microsoft for forcing Sega to rush it….
But the load times do ruin the game because they appear mid level and… Stop you from actually playing the game. Also get a sense of humour for goodness sake.
And MS never forced sega to quickly get the game out. It was just another poor excuse/lie that we tend to get when stuff goes wrong.

It has been stated that the reason for the rushed development was that SONIC TEAM WANTED THE GAME TO BE RELEASED BY CHRISTMAS SO IT WOULD NOT MISS SONIC’S 15TH ANNIVERSARY. All caps makes it more noticeable! Also, the PS3 port being delayed didn’t really fix much, in some cases, such as the Sonic vs Silver fight, I find it more bugged.
Ha! Now this is just priceless! A soda can shaped trash can with a picture of the blue blur himself throwing away a soda can labeled “COLA” just in case you didn’t get it the first time.
But what REALLY sells it is the caption. “Keep waste in its place” Feel like I’m watching those Sonic Sez/Says moments all over again. Well, I guess if you own this, you’ll know where to put it if the next Sonic game ends up being total crap. XD
@ SonicSilverSS and Edge: The PS3 version delay didn’t do anything because that version was about 30-40% behind the Xbox 360 version in development. At a gaming event early in 2006 the games demo pods were labelled about 70% complete for Xbox 360 and about 30-40% complete for PS3. There were photo’s, I’ll try to track them down and post back here in the comments. SEGA/Sonic Team wanted this rushed out for Christmas on both platforms, nothing to do with Microsoft. The PS3 version got delayed a little because it was very behind.
